Getting the best Avon rental experience:
When to reserve a Hatteras rental home & When to go:
- The sooner your group can reserve a vacation rental, the easier your search will be. The best rental properties are booked early. Booking your rental property 6-12 months before your vacation is recommended. Holidays such as Christmas and Thanksgiving are excellent times to plan and book your rental.
- June, July, and August are the most expensive months in the Hatteras area. To book the largest rental for your budget, we suggest booking in Spring or Fall. You'll benefit from lower rates, better selection, beautiful weather and the absence of large crowds at popular Hatteras attractions and restaurants. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook the holidays for a Hatteras vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday vacation on the coast? Thanksgiving and Christmas are great times to gather with friends and family at the beach.
- Active Duty and veterans of the US Armed forces may qualify for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property management company or host if your group qualifies for a price reduction.
- Property management companies often offer their guests an option to buy vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which normally will cost you anywhere between 1% - 5% of the booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for missed time as a result of medical-related emergencies or weather, as well as ensuing additional evacuation costs or charges, such as an unexpected hotel overnight or additional gasoline expenses. Trip insurance might be a a life-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your property manager for additional information.
- Look for your local Hatteras visitors guide magazine upon arrival. If your rental home doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers. In addition to great local information, visitor guides have coupons for nearby shops and restaurants.
How to pick the perfect vacation home in Avon:
- Begin by choosing a vacation week and a maximum budget.
- Decide how many bedrooms and the configuration your group needs. Waterfront dog-friendly house with private hot tub, pool access & central AC has 5 bedrooms and 4 bathrooms.
- Specific descriptions of bedrooms and bed types is often accessible on booking pages. If you don't see them listed, contact the property management company before booking the rental. Note that most properties list maximum guest capacity, which typically includes pull-out couches and bunk beds. You'll need to establish what bed configuration is right for your trip.
- Some rental properties allow pets, but some don't. Allowable types of dog or cat, size and breeds may be restricted, and added charges may apply. Ask the owner about allowable pet guidelines before booking.
- If there's an individual Hatteras beach you are enamored with, look for rentals that are either nearby, or those that cater especially to your requirements.
- Suitable accessibility amenities can make or break a vacation for persons with disabilities. .
Considerations for your stay:
- Review check in & check out procedures before traveling. Add a note with the directions to your smartphone, and take a printed copy.
- Hosts are great sources of help! Feel free to ask any questions during your stay.
- Lock your rental home while you are out and about. Keep your property safe!
- During check-in, document any issues with the rental property and immediately alert the host. Keep records of all correspondence in case a dispute arises.
- Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like disagreeable vacationers bothering your life at home. Practice the golden rule for common sense. If they like you, locals might even recommend great beaches and places you would've not otherwise known about!
- Don't forget to... Ask a local! Residents can often help you find the best spots in town. Who better to ask where to charter a fishing boat, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for fishing?
- On check-out day, take a walk-through to make sure you didn't forget anything. Check garages, decks, and cabinets for hidden belongings. Clean the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Document the condition of the property at check-out. We recommend taking a video during your final walk-through.
- Remember to leave feedback! Property managers rely on great reviews to drive new bookings. They'll be grateful for your review. Alternatively, if something wasn't right, other families will be thankful you shared your experience and help them have the best future vacation. Be fair with your review. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the manager had any control over the issue, and if so, whether they responded reasonably to fix it.
