Booking the best Avon vacation home experience:

Cost saving strategies:

  • Book your vacation rental as early as possible. Rental schedules often become available 12 months in advance (or in September just after the Summer season ends). Many groups book their Summer rentals during Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years Eve get-togethers. Book before these holidays for best selection.
  • June, July, and August are high season in the Hatteras area. Booking your Hatteras vacation home in the Spring or Fall is a good way to save on your vacation rental. Rates are lower, and you'll find a larger selection of suitable homes.
  • Active Duty and veterans of the US Armed forces may qualify for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective host if your family qualifies for a reduced rate.
  • Property managers typically offer their guests an option to purchase vacation insurance. Trip insurance, which generally will cost you between 1% - 5% of the stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for missed vacation time as a result of personal medical-related emergencies or weather disasters, as well as ensuing additional evacuation costs or charges, such as an unexpected hotel overnight or extra gasoline expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a welcome relief if the unforeseen occurs. Ask the property owner for additional information.
  • Often, rental management companies supply Hatteras area visitor guide magazines which often include special offers, either offered independently by local businesses, or by way of a relationship between the rental management company and the business itself. You can also find Hatteras visitors guide and coupon books at local shops and grocery stores.

Planning, picking, and booking your Hatteras vacation home:

  • Select vacation week and spending budget.
  • Note the number bedrooms and the bed configuration your family needs. Waterfront, dog-friendly house with lovely water views, pool access & deck has 3 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms.
  • Precise information about bedrooms and bed counts is often accessible online. If not, call the host before you book the vacation property. Remember that most properties list the maximum guest capacity, which typically includes pull-out couches. You will need to determine what is suitable for your vacation.
  • Traveling with pets? Many vacation homes allow animals, but guidelines and restrictions apply. Allowable pet type, breed, and size are often limited. Remember to ask the property manager before booking, and study your agreement! Additional pet fees or charges applied to your agreement.
  • If there's a particular Hatteras destination you love, browse rentals that are either close by, or those that cater to your needs.
  • Appropriate accessibility amenities can make or break a vacation for persons with a disability. Confirm all necessary amenities are available and included before booking

Some things to know before you go:

  • Be sure you get the property manager's contact number and entry/exit procedures for your rental home.
  • Property managers are there to help! Feel free to ask any questions during your stay.
  • Lock your rental home while you are out. Protect your property!
  • To make sure that no damages are linked to your stay, note any problem areas when you arrive. Speak to the rental manager right away to relay your findings. If there is a dispute, having a record of problems and contact attempts will be helpful.
  • Respecting late-night quiet hours and parking regulations can make a stay more pleasurable. You'll increase your chance to make some new local friends, and resident neighbors are usually an excellent resource to find the best local restaurants, beaches, and hangouts.
  • Don't forget to... Ask a local! Local residents can frequently help. Who better to ask where to order the best nachos, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for bird watching?
  • Just prior to departing, complete a walk-through to make sure you didn't forget any personal items. Make sure to check garages, decks, and cabinets for hidden items. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
  • Record a video to document the condition of the property.
  • Leave feedback! Property managers rely on excellent reviews to stimulate future reservations. They'll be grateful for your review. Alternatively, if something went awry, other families will appreciate that you share your feedback find their best rental home. Please be objective. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the manager could control the issue, and if so, whether they responded expeditiously to solve it.
