Some things to know before you go:
- Review arrival and departure procedures before leaving home. Save the instructions to your smartphone, and take a printed copy.
- Property managers are available to help! Feel free to ask questions before, during, or after your stay.
- Keep the property locked while you're gone! Don't let crooks ruin your trip.
- To make certain that damages are not attributed to your family's stay, make a record of any problem areas upon check in. Call the host immediately to report any pre-existing damages. If there is a dispute, having a record of issues and contact attempts will be useful.
- Respecting late-night quiet hours and parking regulations can make a stay significantly more pleasurable. You'll magnify your chance to make some new local friends, and resident neighbors are often a terrific resource to find the best local scenic spots.
- Don't forget to... Ask a local resident! Locals can frequently help. Who better to ask where to rent beach equipment, have a great night out, or the best spots for fine dining?
- At departure, take a walk-through to make sure you did not leave anything behind. Re-check garages, decks, and cabinets for hidden items. Clean out the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Go through the property one final time and keep an eye out for damages to contents or the property itself. We advise walking through with the property manager whenever you can (often this isn't possible). If the property manager is not available, remember to take video and pictures of the property to record its condition.
- Remember to leave feedback! Hosts rely on good reviews to stimulate new bookings. They'll be thankful for your feedback. Alternatively, if something went awry, other vacationers will be thankful you shared your review and help them have the best future vacation. Please be objective. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the manager had any control over the issue, and if so, whether they responded quickly to fix it.
