How to get the best Avon vacation home experience:
When to book & When to go:
- June, July, and August are high season in the Hatteras area. Reserve your Hatteras rental in Spring or Fall to get the benefit of beautiful weather while saving money and avoiding crowds. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook Winter holidays for a Hatteras vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday near the ocean? Christmas, Thanksgiving, and New Years Eve are great times to gather with family and friends at the beach.
- Reserve your vacation home as soon as possible. Rental schedules often become available twelve months in advance (or in September just after the Summer season ends). Many families book their Summer vacations during Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years Eve gatherings. Book before these holidays for best selection.
- Active Duty and veterans of the US Armed forces may be qualified for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property management company or host if your family qualifies for a discount.
- Property managers often offer guests an option to purchase vacation insurance. Trip insurance, which costs between 1% - 5% of the stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for any missed trip time as a result of personal medical-related catastrophes or weather disasters, as well as evacuation charges, such as an unexpected hotel stay or additional fuel expenses. Trip insurance might be a a welcome relief if the unforeseen happens. Ask your property manager for program terms and fees.
- Look for your local visitors guide when you arrive at the rental property. If your rental doesn't have one, you can find them at local shops and visitor centers. In addition to great local information, visitors guides have offers and deals for nearby attractions, tours, restaurants, and shops.
Make a plan and pick your prefect Hatteras rental home:
- Select dates and maximum budget.
- Note the number bedrooms and the configuration your group needs. Soundside Home with Cmty Pool + Tennis Courts, Grill, and Nearby Beach Access. has 3 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms.
- Specific details about bedrooms and bed types is generally available on booking websites. If not, email or call the host before booking the home. Note that most listings specify the max. guest capacity, which frequently includes pull out couches in living rooms. You'll need to establish what configuration is suitable for your group.
- If there's a particular Hatteras destination you simply love, look for rentals that are either near by, or those that cater especially to your desires.
- Proper accessibility amenities can make or ruin a vacation for guests with disabilities. Confirm all necessary amenities are available before booking.
- Do your family pets travel with you? Many vacation homes allow animals, but guidelines and restrictions apply. Allowable pet type, breed, and size are often limited. Make sure to ask before booking, and study your agreement thoroughly! Pet fees or costs might be applied to your invoice.
Know before you go:
- Review check in & check out procedures before traveling. Add a note with the directions to your smartphone, and take a printed copy.
- During arrival, note any issues with the rental property and immediately contact the host. Keep records of all coorespondence.
- Hosts are great sources of help! Don't be shy to ask any questions during your stay.
- Respect your neighbors. Frequently, surrounding homes are filled by local residents. Respecting noise limits and parking regulations can make a stay significantly more pleasurable.
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local! Neighbors can usually help you find the best spots in town. Who better to ask where to book the best tours, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for bird watching?
- Lock your rental property while you're away! Don't let thieves ruin your vacation.
- Don't leave anything behind! Before departing, walk through the rental to make sure you've collected everything. Check dressers, closets, and bathrooms for hidden belongings. Clean out the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Inspect the rental one final time and keep an eye out for damages to contents or the property itself. We advise walking through with the property manager whenever you can. If the property manager is not available, remember to take photos and video of the rental to record its condition at check-out.
- Did your family have a terrific time? Most rental home management companies make it easy for travelers to provide comments. If your property and/or property management company was fantastic, they would love to hear it. If anything was inoperable and they failed to fix it in a reasonable manner, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make a note as part of your comments.
