OCEANVIEW Hatteras – Slash Creek Rd. –
Vacation is always a delight when you stay at SAILOR’S DELIGHT. Laze around in the fenced-in pool or catch some sun rays on the deck. Take your relaxation up a notch and sink into the bubbly hot tub. Make use of the exterior stairs to take stuff between levels or go inside to the game room. Set up a pool tournament in the game room. With a seating area just off to the left of the pool table, you can wait in comfort before your turn at the table. Pass the time playing foosball or watching your favorite movie on the Intelligent TV. One bedroom uses the hall bath on this lower level, a bunk room with two twin-over-twin bunk beds.
Travel between all three levels on the elevator. The second level of the home has four bedrooms. Two queen bedrooms share a hall bath. The other two bedrooms are two master bedrooms with attached private baths. One queen master and one king master. Three bedrooms have access to the covered deck where you can take your coffee outside in the morning and watch the sunrise or the village wake up. To complete this level, a reading nook in the corner of the level offers the ideal escape. Settle in with a book, watch the island people go about their day, or watch something on the TV. The washer and dryer are also on this level.
The third level of the home has the final bedroom, the roomy great room, the kitchen, and the dining room. A queen master with an attached private bath completes the bedrooms. Cozy up with your family in the cavernous great room with plenty of seating for everybody in your family. Stream a show on the huge TV or bring out a puzzle to put together. The open kitchen makes whipping up a family meal a breeze. Serve it on the dining table that seats eight, kitchen peninsula with seating for four, or take it to the screened-in porch and eat on the picnic table. The top-level deck, accessible off the great room, has some of the best vistas of the island. Look out and see the sound’s marsh and bird watch. Launching from the sound is simple from this home. Just across the highway is a sound access. Or, walk to the beach using the community boardwalk that is handicap friendly. Located in Hatteras, this vacation home is near the beach. The area's natural beauty can be seen at Outer Banks Beaches and Buxton Woods Coastal Preserve, while Graveyard of the Atlantic Museum and Frisco Native American Museum are cultural highlights. Frisco Mini Golf and Go Karts and Buxton Seafood are also worth visiting. Be sure to check out the area's animals with activities such as game walks and birdwatching.

When to book a Hatteras rental & When to go:
- The sooner you can book a rental home, the better your selection will be. The most desirable properties are reserved early. Booking your rental home six to twelve months before your travel dates is recommended. Holiday gatherings are excellent times to search for and reserve your vacation home.
- Summertime is high season in Hatteras. To find the largest rental within budget, we highly recommend booking in the Fall or Spring. You'll benefit from lower rental rates, better selection, beautiful weather and the absence of large crowds at Hatteras restaurants, beaches, and activities. Many vacationers use this method to reserve larger homes, or to book a beach front vacation rental that would otherwise be unavailable during the Summer.
- Some owners offer special rates for active duty military and veterans. Ask your property manager if discounts are available for your group before you book.
- Booking websites frequently offer guests an option to buy trip insurance. Trip insurance, which costs between 1% - 5% of the base stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for missed time as a result of medical-related issues or weather, as well as ensuing additional hurricane evacuation costs or charges, such as an unanticipated hotel stay or additional gas expenses. Trip insurance might be a a welcome relief if the unforeseen happens. Ask your host for additional information.

Note that most properties list the maximum guest capacity, which typically includes pull out couches in living rooms. You'll need to determine what bed configuration is optimal for your vacation family.
- Are you traveling with furry, four-legged family members? Although a number of vacation homes allow pets or animals, guidelines and costs vary per property. Type of pet, size and breeds may be limited. Ask your host before booking, and study your agreement! Additional fees or could be applied to your contract.
- Visiting for a specific attraction? Use a map search to find nearby rentals.
- Proper accessibility amenities can make or ruin a vacation for the less-mobile. Remember to confirm all necessary amenities are included before reserving a rental
Some things to know before you go:
- Be sure you get the host's phone number and check in/check out procedures for your rental home.
- Property managers are available to help! Don't be shy to ask questions during your stay.
- Ensure you protect the property owner (and your stuff!) by locking the property when you are away, just like you would back home.
- Note any issues with the property during check in, and immediately e-mail them to the property manager. We especially recommend texts and e-mails, as they usually contain built-in time stamps that are beneficial if a dispute arises.
- Don't forget to respect your neighbors. Often, adjacent homes are occupied by local residents. Respecting noise limits and parking policies is the right thing to do.
- Don't forget to... Ask a local! Neighbors can typically help you find the best spots in town. Who better to ask where to take kids for a treat, have a great night out, or the best spots for BBQ?
- Double-check the rental property to make sure that you've packed all of your family's items on check-out day. Re-check garages, decks, and cabinets for hidden treasure. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Go through the rental one final time and look for damages to contents or the property itself. We recommend inspecting the property with the property manager whenever you can. If the property manager is not available, ensure that you take photographs of the rental to record its condition.
- Did you have a fantastic stay? Many vacation rental websites make it easy for clients to provide comments. If your rental and/or property management company was fantastic, they would love to hear it. If anything was imperfect and they failed to fix it reasonably, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make it a point as part of your feedback.
