Build a handsome resort village on a favorite Hatteras Island location, and they will come. The Cottages at the Cape are the closest vacation units to the Cape Hatteras Lighthouse in Buxton. They share a long border with the national park and are literally steps from the beachfront. Bring the bicycles because Buxton's unique stores, eateries, and lighthouse are all very close. Forget the 4WD car - those in the know have discovered that the three jetties to the east of the cottages produce some of the best fishing, surfing, and swimming on this island. Walking to the south will take you to open beaches, the famed Cape Point, and, if luck is on your side during the summer, a few sea turtle nests - be careful to stay outside the barriers.
This is an impressive, completely remodeled townhouse with brand-new paint, furnishings, floor, and appliances. The interior has been professionally decorated with comfortable and fun beach décor. You'll have access to an outdoor shower and a patio, and there are plenty of appliances, counter space, and cabinet storage in the full kitchen. The living room is a great place to savor a movie nighttime with friends and family after a fun day on the beach. The central air-conditioning will keep the home nice and cool on those hot summer days, and the complimentary WiFi will make it simple to research a new beach adventure. An escape to the cape never looked as good as Cottages at the Cape.

Tips and Tricks to get the very best rental home experience:
Find your perfect vacation home:
- Book your vacation home as early as possible. Rental schedules usually become available twelve months in advance (or in September just after Summer ends). Many groups book their Summer vacation rentals during holiday gatherings. Book before these holidays for best selection.
- Summer is high season in the Hatteras area. To get the best value, try shifting your family's Hatteras vacation to the Spring or Fall months. May, September, and even October offer pleasant weather, fewer crowds, and reduced traffic.
- Some owners offer special rates for veterans. Check with your host or property manager to see if discounts are available for your group.
- Booking websites frequently offer customers an option to obtain trip insurance protection. Trip insurance, which normally will cost you 1% - 5% of the base booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for any missed time as a result of personal medical-related issues or weather, as well as evacuation costs, such as an unanticipated hotel or extra gasoline expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a bank account-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask the property owner for details.
- Often, rental management companies supply Hatteras area visitors guides that include special offers, either offered independently by local companies, or by way of a partnership between the management company and the business itself. You can also find Hatteras area magazine and coupon books at local gas stations and shopping centers.
Planning, picking, and booking the perfect Hatteras vacation home:
- Choose your vacation week and spending budget.
- Determine how many beds and what type of bedroom configuration you need. Renovated, ocean-view townhouse with pool, W\/D & AC - dog-friendly has 4 bedrooms and 3 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our rental home search.
- Precise information about bedrooms and bed sizes & counts is often accessible on booking pages. If you don't see them listed, reach out to the property manager before booking the vacation home. Note that most properties list the maximum guest capacity, which frequently includes pull-out couches. You'll need to establish what bed configuration is best for your group.
- If your group is vacationing with pets, you'll need to find a pet-friendly property. Ask for specifics on breed, size, and type requirements. Be aware that some property managers charge additional pet fees.
- Are you visiting for a single event? Use a map search to find nearby properties.
- Suitable accessibility can make or break a vacation for persons with disabilities. Remember to confirm all necessary amenities are available before reserving a rental
During your stay:
- Review arrival and departure procedures before traveling. Take a printed copy, and save the instructions to your phone.
- Ask questions. You may need instructions for a garage door opener, television set or coffee maker. Contact your host. They are there to help! A brief phone call can prevent quite a few problems.
- Keep your rental home locked while you're away! Don't let burglars spoil your trip.
- Document any issues with the property upon arrival, and immediately e-mail them to the host. We specifically recommend e-mails and text messages, as they usually contain time stamps that are helpful if there is a dispute.
- Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like obnoxious visitors disrupting your quiet neighborhood. Practice the golden rule for best judgement. If they like you, locals might even recommend great local food and places you would have not otherwise known!
- Don't forget to... Ask a local resident! Locals can usually help you find exactly what you're looking for. Who better to ask where to find the fresh catch of the day, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for fine dining?
- When it's time to leave, complete a final walk-through to make sure you haven't forget any personal items. Re-check dressers, closets, and bathrooms for hidden treasure. Clean out the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Record a video to document the condition of the property.
- Remember to leave feedback! Property owners rely on good reviews to stimulate future reservations. They'll be thankful for your feedback. Alternatively, if something went awry, other families will appreciate that you share your feedback and help them have the best future vacation. Remember to be objective. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the owner had any control over the issue, and if so, whether they responded reasonably to solve it.
