Build a gorgeous resort village on a favorite Hatteras Island location, and they will come. The Cottages at the Cape are the closest vacation units to the Cape Hatteras Lighthouse in Buxton. They share a long border with the national park and are literally steps from the beachfront. Bring the bicycles because Buxton's unique stores, eateries, and lighthouse are all very close. Forget the 4WD car - those in the know have discovered that the three jetties to the east of the cottages produce some of the best fishing, surfing, and swimming on this island. Walking to the south will take you to open beaches, the famed Cape Point, and, if luck is on your side during the summer, a few sea turtle nests - be careful to stay outside the barriers.
This is an superb, completely remodeled townhouse with brand-new paint, furnishings, floor, and appliances. The interior has been professionally decorated with comfortable and fun beach décor. You'll have access to an outdoor shower and a patio, and there are plenty of appliances, counter space, and cabinet storage in the full kitchen. The living room is a great place to appreciate a movie nighttime with friends and family after a fun day on the beach. The central air-conditioning will keep the home nice and cool on those hot summer days, and the complimentary WiFi will make it simple to research a new beach adventure. An escape to the cape never looked as good as Cottages at the Cape.

Finding the best Hatteras vacation property experience:
Cost saving strategies:
- Summer is high season in the Hatteras area. Reserve your vacation home in Fall or Spring months to get the benefit of beautiful weather while saving money and avoiding crowded roads, restaurants, and activities.
- Book your rental as early as possible. Rental schedules generally open 12 months in advance (or in September just after Summer ends). Many groups book their Summer rentals during Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years Eve gatherings. Book before these holidays for best selection.
- Active Duty and veterans of the US Armed forces may be qualified for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective host whether your group qualifies for a special rate.
- Booking websites frequently offer their guests an option to buy trip insurance protection. Trip insurance, which usually will cost anywhere between 1% - 5% of the base reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for any missed time as a result of personal medical-related emergencies or weather disasters, as well as evacuation costs or charges, such as an unexpected hotel stay or extra gas expenses. Trip insurance might be a a bank account-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask the property owner for details.
- Look for your local Hatteras visitors guide magazine when you check-in. If your rental doesn't have one, you can find them at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers. In addition to great local articles, visitors guides contain discounts for local attractions, tours, restaurants, and shops.
Planning and choosing a perfectvacation home:
- Select a group lead, select your vacation dates, and select a max budget.
- Decide how many bedrooms and the bed configuration your family needs. Renovated, ocean-view townhouse with pool, W\/D & AC - dog-friendly has 4 bedrooms and 3 bathrooms.
- Specific details about bedrooms and bed types is almost always available online. If you don't see them listed, reach out to the host before reserving the home. Note that most property listings specify the max. guest capacity, which frequently includes pull out couches in living rooms.
- Does your family require unique amenities? Most websites include search filters with amenity lists. Filtering by amenity will allow you to quickly find your ideal rental home.
- Proper accessibility can make or break a vacation for persons with a disability. Make certain to ask about specialized equipment and wheel chair accessibility.
- Some rental properties allow pets, but some do not. Allowable types of dog or cat, weight and breeds may be restricted, and added charges may apply. Ask the host about your furry family members before booking.
Some things to know before you go:
- Review arrival and departure procedures before leaving home. Take a printed copy, and add a note with the instructions to your smartphone.
- At Check-in, document any issues with the rental property and immediately alert the host. Keep records of all coorespondence.
- Ask questions. You may need instructions for a hot tub, intercom or coffee maker. Contact your owner. They are there to help! A brief call can prevent many issues.
- Respecting quiet hours and parking policies can make a stay significantly more pleasurable. Be a good neighbor. You will enhance your chance to make local friends, and resident neighbors are usually an excellent resource to find the best local beaches and restaurants.
- Don't forget to... Ask a local! Locals can often help. Who better to ask where to get the best seafood, have a great night out, or the best spots for fine dining?
- Ensure you protect the owner (and your stuff!) by locking the rental when you are out, just like you would back home.
- Don't leave anything behind! Before departing, take a walk through the rental to reconfirm you've collected everything. Check bathrooms, garages, and back yards for hidden belongings. Clean the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Inspect the rental one final time and keep an eye out for damage. We suggest inspecting the property with the host whenever you can (often this isn't possible). If the property manager isn't available, ensure that you take photographs of the property to record its condition at check-out.
- After your trip, leave a review! Hosts rely on great feedback to stimulate future bookings. They'll be much obliged for your feedback. Alternatively, if something went awry, other vacationers will appreciate that you share your review find their best vacation rental. Please be objective. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the manager had any control over the issue, and if so, whether they responded expeditiously to solve it.
