Finding the best rental home value:
- The sooner your group can reserve a vacation home, the easier your search will be. The most desirable rental properties are booked very early. - Booking websites frequently offer their guests an option to obtain vacation insurance. Trip insurance, which usually costs between 1% - 5% of the booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for missed vacation time as a result of personal medical-related catastrophes or weather disasters, as well as hurricane evacuation costs, such as an unexpected hotel or additional fuel expenses. Trip insurance might be a a life-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask your host for more information.
- Find a copy of your local Hatteras area magazine upon arrival. If your rental home doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers. In addition to great local stories, visitors guides contain deals for nearby shops and restaurants.

- Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like loud visitors disrupting your quiet neighborhood. Apply the golden rule for best judgement. Happy residents may even recommend great beaches and attractions you would have never otherwise known!
- Don't forget to... Ask a local! Residents can typically point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to book the best tours, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for shopping?
- At departure, complete a final walk-through to confirm you did not forget any personal items. Make sure to check closets, dressers, garages, and bathrooms for hidden treasure. Clean the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
