OCEANSIDE Waves — Sea Isle Hills Dr. — New for 2024! — In spite of trying to find a reason to continue your search for a vacation rental, IN SPITE OF OURSELVES just may make you stop right here. Located nearly equal distance from both the ocean and Pamlico Sound — with vistas of each visible from multiple decks — this cavernous four-bedroom/three full and two-half bath home checks all the boxes for those seeking the quintessential Hatteras Island experience.

One of those boxes is that you can bring up to two dogs, so no family member is left behind. If you’re hoping to get some fishing in, there’s a fish cleaning table and an outdoor shower to rinse off after a day in or on the water. Hang out in the lower level’s media room featuring a roomy sectional couch to watch the Intelligent TV and a modest drink refrigerator to keep your beverages sufficiently chilled. There’s a appreciate seat/single sleeper couch and a half-bath here, too.

The first level is home to three of the home’s four bedrooms including a queen master bedroom with ensuite bath and a queen and two single bunk beds that share a full hallway bathroom. All of these rooms have access to a covered deck. The final bedroom, a king master, with a spacious ensuite bath featuring a jetted tub and access to an ocean-facing deck, is located on the second level. All of the bedrooms are equipped with Intelligent TVs.

On the top level, discover an open and airy great room that brings your family together for those memorable moments that check even more boxes — happy hours complemented by cross breezes from the wraparound decks or screened-in porch; dinners that last for hours around a spacious dining table; and family time watching favorite shows on the Intelligent TV. The family prepare will adore the well-equipped kitchen with plenty of room to prep family-favorite meals that can also be served at the four-seat breakfast counter or outside at the picnic table. Wind down the day with a calming soak in the 6-person hot tub, a ideal place to check that final box under a moonlit sky. Book IN SPITE OF OURSELVES and feel complete.

Finding the best rental home value:

  • Summertime is high season in the Hatteras area. To book the best vacation home within your budget, we recommend booking in the Fall or Spring shoulder seasons. You'll benefit from lower rates, better selection, warm weather and the absence of giant crowds at the beach and popular Hatteras attractions. Many vacationers use this strategy to find larger homes within budget, or to reserve an oceanfront rental that would otherwise be unaffordable during the Summer.
  • Book your vacation home as soon as possible. Rental schedules often become available 12 months in advance (or in September just after Summer ends). Many groups reserve their Summer vacations during Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years Eve gatherings. Book before these holidays for best selection.
  • Some property managers offer discounts or promotional rates for veterans. It's always a good idea to check with your property manager to see if special offers are available for your family before you book.
  • Property managers typically offer guests an option to obtain trip insurance. Trip insurance, which normally costs anywhere between 1% - 5% of the booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for missed days as a result of medical-related catastrophes or weather disasters, as well as ensuing additional evacuation costs or charges, such as an unexpected hotel stay or extra gasoline expenses. Trip insurance can be a a welcome relief if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your host for more information.

  • Don't forget to... Ask a local resident! Neighbors can usually help you find the best spots in town. Who better to ask where to order delicious takeout, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for crabbing?
  • Protect the rental owner (and your things!) by locking the rental when you are gone, just like you would at home.
  • Don't leave anything behind! Just before departing, take a walk through the rental to reconfirm you've collected all belongings. Make sure to check bathrooms, garages, and back yards for hidden belongings. Clean the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
  • Please make sure to walk through the property one final time and scan for damage. We recommend walking through with the property manager whenever you can (often this isn't possible). If the property manager is not available, take photographs of the property to record its condition.
  • Remember to leave a review! Property managers rely on excellent reviews to propel new bookings. They'll be thankful for your review.
