Tricks and tips to get the best vacation rental experience:
Getting the best rental value:
- In the Hatteras area, The sooner your group can reserve a home, the easier your search will be. The best vacation homes are reserved very early. Reserving your vacation property 6-12 months before your travel dates is recommended. Holiday gatherings are excellent times to plan and reserve your vacation rental.
- June, July, and August are the most expensive months in Waves. Booking a rental in Fall or Spring is a good way to save on your vacation home. Rates are lower, and you'll find a larger selection of desirable properties. Many vacationers use this strategy to find larger homes within budget, or to reserve a beach front rental that would otherwise be unavailable during the Summer.
- Property managers sometimes offer rate reductions for veterans. Remember to ask your property manager if rate reductions are available for your family.
- Property management companies typically offer their guests an option to purchase trip insurance protection. Trip insurance, which costs anywhere between 1% - 5% of the reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for missed time as a result of personal medical-related catastrophes or weather, as well as hurricane evacuation charges, such as an unanticipated hotel stay or additional fuel expenses. Trip insurance might be a a bank account-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask your host for specifics.
- Find a copy of your local Hatteras area magazine upon checking in. If your rental home doesn't have one, you can find them at local shops and fuel stations. In addition to great local stories, travel guides have discounts for local tours and attractions.
Narrow your rental Search:
- Select dates and spending budget.
- Decide how many beds and what type of bedroom configuration your group needs. Oceanfront home with private pool, hot tub, game room, sundecks & fast WiFi has 5 bedrooms and 6 bathrooms.
- Specific information about bedrooms and bed counts is regularly available on booking websites. If you don't see them listed, email or call the property manager before you book the property. Remember that most listings specify maximum guest capacity, which frequently includes sofa beds.
- If your family is traveling with pets, filter your search for a pet-friendly vacation rental. Request details on breed, size, and type restrictions. Usually, hosts charge pet deposits and fees.
- If there's a particular Hatteras attraction you are crazy about, browse rentals that are either nearby, or those that cater especially to your needs.
- Suitable accessibility amenities can make or break a vacation for persons with a disability. Make certain to inquire about wheel chair entry, pool lifts and specialized equipment needs.
Tips for your stay:
- We recommend storing the manager's contact information in your smartphone and wallet.
- Property managers are there to help! Feel free to ask questions before, during, or after your stay.
- Protect the property owner (and your things!) by locking and securing the home while you are gone, just like you would back home.
- To make sure that no damages are linked to your stay, note any problem areas during check in. Make contact with the rental manager right away to record any issues. If there is a dispute about legal responsibility later, having a record of problems and contact attempts will be helpful.
- Be respectful of your neighbors. Frequently, nearby homes are occupied by local residents. Respecting quiet hours and parking regulations can make a stay significantly more pleasurable.
- Don't forget to... Ask a local resident! Local residents can frequently help you find exactly what you're looking for. Who better to ask where to grab the best tacos, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for BBQ?
- Re-check the rental property to confirm that you've packed all of your belongings on check-out day. Check bathrooms, garages, and back yards for hidden treasure. Clean out the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Inspect the rental one final time and keep an eye out for any damage. We recommend inspecting the property with the host whenever possible. If the host is not available, take photographs of the rental to record its condition at check-out.
- Leave feedback! Property managers rely on great feedback to compel new bookings. They'll be thankful for your review. Alternatively, if something went wrong, other families will will be grateful for your feedback and help them have the best future vacation. Please be objective. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the owner could control the issue, and if so, whether they responded quickly to fix it.
