Tips and Tricks to get the optimal rental experience:
Finding the best rental value:
- The sooner you can reserve a home, the easier your search will be. The most desirable properties are reserved early. Booking your rental home six to twelve months before your travel dates is recommended. Holiday gatherings are excellent times to search for and book your rental.
- Summer months are high season in Frisco. To get the best value, consider changing your group's vacation week to the Spring or Fall months. May, September, and October offer excellent temperatures, , and reduced traffic. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook the holidays for a Hatteras vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday on the coast? Christmas, Thanksgiving, and New Years Eve are great times to gather with family and friends at your favorite beach.
- Active Duty and veterans of the US Armed forces may be qualified for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective vacation rental company or host whether your family qualifies for a price reduction or discount.
- Property managers frequently offer guests an option to purchase trip insurance. Trip insurance, which normally will cost 1% - 5% of the reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for any missed days as a result of medical-related catastrophes or weather, as well as ensuing additional evacuation costs, such as an unexpected hotel overnight or additional gasoline expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a welcome relief if the unforeseen happens. Ask your property manager for details.
- Find a copy of your local Hatteras area magazine upon checking in. If your rental home doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers. In addition to great local stories, visitors guide magazines contain coupons for local attractions, tours, restaurants, and shops.
How to pick the perfect rental home:
- First, have your group choose a vacation week and a maximum budget.
- Decide how many bedrooms and the bed configuration your group needs. Oceanfront home with 2-tier deck, beach access & sunrise views - 2 dogs welcome has 5 bedrooms and 3 bathrooms.
- Precise information regarding bedrooms and bed counts is commonly accessible on booking pages. If they are not listed, contact the property manager before booking your rental. Remember that most properties list the max. guest capacity, which typically includes pull-out couches. You will need to work out what is optimal for your vacation family.
- If your group is vacationing with pets, you will need a pet-friendly rental. Make sure to ask for specifics on breed, size, and type requirements. Some property managers require additional pet deposits and fees.
- Visiting for a single event or attraction? If so, use a map search to find nearby properties.
- Suitable accessibility amenities can make or break a vacation for the less-mobile. Confirm all necessary amenities are available and included before booking.
Tips for your stay:
- Take a copy of the owner's phone number and entry/exit procedures for your rental.
- Ask questions. You may want instructions for a fireplace, A/V setup or thermostat. Contact your owner. They are there to help! A brief call can prevent quite a few issues.
- Lock your rental home while you're out and about. Protect the owner's property and your things!
- During check-in, note any issues with the property and immediately contact the host. Keep records of all correspondence just in case a dispute arises.
- Respect the neighborhood. Frequently, surrounding homes are filled by permanent residents. Respecting late-night quiet hours and parking rules reduces conflict and allows everyone to enjoy their day.
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local! Neighbors can often help you find the best spots in town. Who better to ask where to launch your kayaks, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for shopping?
- Double-check the property to confirm that you've packed all of your family's items at departure. Remember to check dressers, closets, and bathrooms for hidden treasure. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Record a video to document the condition of the property.
- After your trip, leave a review! Hosts rely on great reviews to inspire more bookings. They'll be thankful for your feedback. Alternatively, if something wasn't right, other families will appreciate that you share your experience and help them have the best future vacation. Remember to be objective. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the manager could control the issue, and if so, whether they responded reasonably to fix it.
