Our top Frisco vacation rental booking tips and tricks:
Get the most from your rental home budget:
- Book your vacation home as early as possible. Rental schedules often become available 12 months in advance (or in September just after Summertime ends). Many families book their Summer vacations during Winter holiday get-togethers. Book before these holidays for best selection.
- To get the most suitable rental home for your budget, we strongly suggest reserving in the Fall or Spring shoulder seasons. You'll benefit from lower rental rates, greater selection, gorgeous weather and the absence of giant crowds at local restaurants, tours, and activities. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook Winter holidays for a Hatteras vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday vacation on the coast? Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years are great times to gather with friends and family at the beach.
- Active Duty and veterans of the US Armed forces may be qualified for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective vacation rental company or host whether your family qualifies for a discount.
- Property managers typically offer their guests an option to buy trip insurance protection. Trip insurance, which will generally cost 1% - 5% of the base booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for missed vacation time as a result of medical-related emergencies or weather disasters, as well as evacuation costs, such as an unanticipated hotel stay or extra gas expenses. Trip insurance can be a a welcome relief if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your property manager for additional information.
- Often, management companies supply Hatteras area travel guide magazines which will include coupons, either offered directly by local companies, or by way of a partnership between the management company and the business itself. You can also find Hatteras visitors guide and coupon books at local gas stations and shopping centers.
Use filters to narrow your rental search:
- First and foremost, have your group commit to trip dates and a maximum budget.
- Determine how many bedrooms and the configuration your family requires. Oceanfront home with 2-tier deck, beach access & sunrise views - 2 dogs welcome has 4 bedrooms and 3 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our Hatteras rental home search.
- Specific information about bedrooms and bed counts is usually available on booking pages. If not, email or call the property owner before you book the vacation home. Remember that most properties list the max. guest capacity, which usually includes sofa beds.
- If your family is traveling with pets, you'll need to book a pet-friendly property. Request details on breed, size, and type requirements. Note that some property managers require additional pet deposits and fees.
- If there's an individual Hatteras attraction you are crazy about, search for properties that are either near by, or those that cater to your needs.
- Proper accessibility amenities can make or break a vacation for guests that require the use of a wheelchair. Confirm all required amenities are available and included before reserving a rental.
Additional considerations:
- We recommend storing the manager's information in your smartphone.
- Ask questions. You may want instructions for a fireplace, elevator or washer/dryer. Contact your property manager. They are there to help! A brief call can prevent a lot of concerns.
- Lock your vacation home while you are out and about. Keep your property safe!
- To ensure that damages are not linked to your stay, inspect for any problem areas upon check in. Speak to the rental manager immediately to relay any pre-existing damages. If there is a dispute, having a record of problems and contact attempts will be valuable.
- Respecting late-night quiet hours and parking restrictions can make a stay significantly more pleasurable. Be a good neighbor. You will magnify your chance to make local friends, and resident neighbors are usually a fantastic resource to find the best local restaurants, beaches, and hangouts.
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Local residents can typically point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to charter a fishing boat, have a great night out, or the best spots for fine dining?
- On check-out day, complete a final walk-through to make sure you haven't leave anything behind. Remember to check garages, decks, and cabinets for hidden items. Clean the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Document the condition of the property at check-out. We recommend taking a video during your final walk-through.
- Remember to leave a review! Property managers rely on great reviews to propel future reservations. They'll be thankful for your feedback. Alternatively, if something wasn't right, other families will appreciate that you share your experience and help them have the best future vacation. Be fair with your review. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the host had any control over the issue, and if so, whether they responded quickly to fix it.
