Hatteras vacation rental booking tips:
When to go & When to book:
- To find the most suitable vacation home for your budget, we strongly suggest booking in the Fall or Spring. You'll enjoy lower rates, better selection, gorgeous weather and the absence of large crowds at the beach and popular Hatteras attractions. Many vacationers use this strategy to reserve larger homes, or to reserve an oceanfront vacation rental that would otherwise be unaffordable during the Summer months.
- In the Hatteras area, The sooner your group can reserve a vacation home, the better your selection will be. The most desirable vacation homes are reserved early. Booking your rental property up to twelve months before your travel dates is recommended. Christmas, Thanksgiving and New Years Eve are excellent times to search for and book your rental property.
- Some property management companies offer discounts or promotional rates for veterans and active duty military. It's always a good idea to check with your host or property manager to see if special offers are available for your family before you book.
- Property managers frequently offer renters an option to add trip insurance protection. Trip insurance, which normally costs anywhere between 1% - 5% of the reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for any days missed as a result of medical-related emergencies or weather disasters, as well as hurricane evacuation charges, such as an unexpected hotel stay or extra fuel expenses. Trip insurance might be a a bank account-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask the property owner for additional information.
- Often, rental management companies and vacation rental houses supply Hatteras area visitor guide magazines which will include money-saving deals, either offered independently by local companies, or through a relationship between the property management company and the business itself. You can also find Hatteras visitors guide magazine and coupon books at local shops and grocery stores.
Selecting the perfect rental:
- Select a group leader, select your vacation dates, and choose a budget.
- Determine how many beds and the configuration you need. Family Friendly Canal Front Beach Home--Pet Friendly\/Rec room\/New Hot Tub has 4 bedrooms and 5 bathrooms.
- Precise details about bedrooms and bed types is normally accessible on booking pages. Otherwise, email or call the property manager before you book the rental. Note that most properties list the maximum guest capacity, which oftentimes includes sofa beds in living rooms.
- Is your family looking for special amenities? Most rental search websites include amenity lists and search filters. Use these filters to your advantage to find the perfect rental home.
- Proper accessibility can make or break a vacation for those with limited mobility. Remember to confirm all required amenities are available and included before reserving a rental
- Some properties allow pets, and some do not. Acceptable types of pet, weight and breeds may be restricted, and added charges may apply. Ask the host about pets before booking.
More considerations:
- We recommend storing the owner's contact information in your smartphone and wallet.
- During arrival, document any damages to the property and immediately contact the host. Keep records of all coorespondence.
- Hosts are great sources of help! Feel free to ask questions during your stay.
- Respecting quiet hours and parking policies can make a stay significantly more pleasurable. Be a good neighbor. You'll increase your chance to make local friends, and resident neighbors can be a great source for finding the best local attractions.
- Don't forget to... Ask a local! Locals can typically help you find exactly what you're looking for. Who better to ask where to get the best breakfast in town, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for fishing?
- Lock your rental home while you're out and about. Protect the owner's property and your things!
- At departure, take a walk-through to make sure you did not leave anything behind. Re-check bathrooms, dressers, and closets for hidden treasure. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Go through the property a final time and keep an eye out for any damage. We recommend inspecting the property with the host whenever possible. If the property manager is not available, ensure that you take video and pictures of the property to record its condition.
- Leave a review! Property managers rely on excellent feedback to compel future reservations. They'll be much obliged for your feedback. Alternatively, if something wasn't as described, other families will will be grateful for your feedback and help them have the best future vacation. Please be fair with your feedback If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the host had any control over the issue, and if so, whether they responded reasonably to remedy it.
