Build a charming resort village on a favorite Hatteras Island location, and they will come. The Cottages at the Cape are the closest rental units to the Cape Hatteras Lighthouse in Buxton. They share a long border with the national park and are literally steps from the beachfront. Bring the bicycles, because Buxton’s unique stores, eateries, and lighthouse are all very close. Forget the 4WD car - those in the know have discovered that the three jetties to the east of the cottages produce some of the best fishing, surfing, and swimming on this island. Walking to the south will take you to open beaches, the famed Cape Point, and if luck is on your side during the summer, a few sea turtle nests (be careful to stay outside the barriers).

Back at your vacation home, you'll be greeted by a townhouse that has been completely modernized, essentially making it brand new. Everything including its floors, furnishings, appliances, and even the very paint used on the walls has been updated. On top of that, the interior has been professionally decorated with comfortable and fun beach décor. You'll have access to an outside shower, a patio, and even an elevator. An escape to the cape never looked so good as at Cottages at the Cape. Combining the ambience of home with a chic flair, you'll always remember your time here.

THINGS TO KNOW
You will be required to sign an additional lease agreement upon making a booking which will be sent to your e-mail. You will not be able to check in until we have received your signature electronically. Please contact us directly if you do not receive this agreement.
Guests have access to the Club Hatteras Pool Facility. Additional details about this facility will be shared in your check-in e-mail and during the check-in process. The club is typically open from mid-May to mid-October, depending on the weather.

If you are bringing a dog on your trip, the pet fee is already supplied in your quote when selecting ‘Yes’ to family pets. If you would like to add more dogs, please contact us. The pet fee is per stay and ranges between $150 and $200, depending on the bedroom count, and will apply for each additional dog.

Located in Buxton, this vacation home is in a rural area and near the beach. Buxton Woods Nature Trail and Uncle Eddy's Frozen Custard and 18-Hole Mini Golf are worth checking out if an activity is on the agenda, while those wishing to experience the area's natural beauty can explore Buxton Woods Coastal Preserve and Lighthouse Beach. Find your perfect rental:

  • June, July, and August are high season in Buxton. Book your Hatteras vacation home in the Fall or Spring to get the benefit of warm weather while saving money and avoiding crowds.
  • The earlier you can reserve a home, the better your selection will be. The most desirable vacation homes are booked very early. Booking your rental home up to 12 months before your travel dates is recommended. Christmas, Thanksgiving and New Years Eve are excellent times to plan and reserve your vacation rental.
  • Active Duty and veterans of the US Armed forces may be qualified for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property manager if your vacationing group qualifies for a discount.
  • Management companies and individual rental owners frequently offer guests an option to obtain vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which will generally cost 1% - 5% of the base stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for missed trip time as a result of medical-related issues or weather disasters, as well as ensuing additional hurricane evacuation costs or charges, such as an unexpected hotel stay or additional gas expenses. Trip insurance can be a a welcome relief if the unforeseen occurs. Ask the property owner for specifics.

  • On check-out day, complete a final walk-through to confirm you haven't forget any personal items. Make sure to check garages, decks, and cabinets for hidden belongings. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
  • Please make sure to walk through the rental a final time and keep an eye out for any damage. We suggest walking through with the property manager whenever you can. If the manager is not available, take video and pictures of the rental to record its condition at check-out.
