Tips to get the best Hatteras vacation property experience:

When to book & When to go:

  • Booking a rental in Fall or Spring is an excellent way to save money on your rental home. Rental rates are lower, and you'll find a better selection of acceptable homes. Many vacationers use this strategy to find larger homes within budget, or to book a beach front vacation rental that would otherwise be unavailable or unaffordable during the Summer months. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook the holidays for a Hatteras vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday on the coast? Christmas, Thanksgiving, and New Years Eve are great times to gather with loved ones at the beach.
  • The earlier your group can reserve a vacation home, the easier your search will be. The most desirable rental homes are reserved early. Booking your vacation rental up to twelve months before your vacation dates is recommended. Winter holidays are excellent times to search for and reserve your vacation home.
  • Owners sometimes offer special rates for veterans. Ask your property manager if special offers are available for your family.
  • Booking websites frequently offer customers an option to purchase vacation insurance. Trip insurance, which generally costs 1% - 5% of the base reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for days missed as a result of medical-related issues or weather disasters, as well as ensuing additional evacuation costs or charges, such as an unanticipated hotel stay or extra gas expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a life-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask the property owner for more information.
  • Look for your local Hatteras visitors guide upon checking in. If your rental doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local grocery stores and visitor centers. In addition to great local information, travel guide magazines have money saving offers on nearby accommodations, restaurants and tours.

How to select the perfect vacation home:

  • To start, have your family decide on date ranges and a maximum budget.
  • Note the number beds and what type of bedroom configuration your group needs. BRAND NEW beach cottage\/Water View\/ Beach Gear\/5min walk to beach! has 3 bedrooms and 3 bathrooms.
  • Specific descriptions of bedrooms and bed counts is regularly accessible on booking pages. Otherwise, email or call the property management company before you book your home. Remember that most listings specify the max. guest capacity, which frequently includes pull-out couches and bunk beds. You will need to establish what configuration is optimal for your group.
  • If there's a certain Hatteras beach you love, search for properties that are either nearby, or those that cater to your desires.
  • Appropriate accessibility can make or break a vacation for guests that require the use of a wheelchair. Confirm all required amenities are available before booking
  • Are you bringing the family pet? Although a number of vacation homes allow pets or animals, guidelines and costs vary per property. Type of pet, size and breeds may be limited. Remember to ask your host before booking, and study your agreement! Additional fees or applied to your agreement.

During your stay:

  • Be sure you get the host's contact number and check in/check out procedures for your rental property.
  • To make sure no damages are attributed to your family's visit, make note of any problem areas during arrival. text the property manager immediately to document any damages. If there is a dispute about legal responsibility later, having the recorded problems and contact attempts will be very helpful.
  • Ask questions. You may want instructions for a fireplace, A/V setup or kitchen appliance. Contact your owner. They are there to help! A brief phone call can prevent many difficulties.
  • Respect your neighbors. Frequently, adjacent homes are occupied by permanent residents. Respecting quiet hours and parking rules reduces conflict and allows everyone to enjoy their day.
  • Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local! Local residents can typically help. Who better to ask where to get the best seafood, have a great night out, or the best spots for BBQ?
  • Keep the property locked while you are gone! Don't let thieves spoil your vacation.
  • On check-out day, complete a final walk-through to confirm you haven't forget anything. Check bathrooms, garages, and back yards for hidden belongings. Clean the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
  • Record a video to document the condition of the property.
  • Leave feedback! Property managers rely on excellent reviews to drive more reservations. They'll be thankful for your review. Alternatively, if something went wrong, other families will be thankful you shared your experience find their best vacation home. Remember to be objective. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the property manager could control the issue, and if so, whether they responded reasonably to fix it.
