Finding the best Hatteras vacation rental experience:
Finding your perfect rental:
- The earlier your group can book a rental home, the easier your search will be. The best vacation homes are reserved early. Booking your vacation home six - twelve months before your vacation is recommended. Holiday gatherings are excellent times to plan and book your vacation rental.
- Booking a rental in the Spring or Fall is a good way to save on your vacation rental. Rates are lower, and you'll find a better selection of suitable homes. Many vacationers use this method to reserve larger homes, or to reserve an oceanfront rental that would otherwise be unavailable during June, July, and August. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook Winter holidays for a Hatteras vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday near the ocean? Christmas, Thanksgiving, and New Years Eve are great times to gather with family and friends at your favorite beach.
- Some hosts and property managers offer discounts or promotional rates for veterans. Make sure to check with your property manager to see if special offers are available for your family before you book.
- Management companies and individual rental owners typically offer customers an option to buy trip insurance. Trip insurance, which normally will cost you anywhere between 1% - 5% of the base reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for any missed days as a result of personal medical-related catastrophes or weather disasters, as well as evacuation costs, such as an unanticipated hotel or additional fuel expenses. Trip insurance can be a a welcome relief if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your host for more information.
- Look for your local Hatteras visitors guide magazine when you arrive at the rental property. If your rental doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local shops and visitor centers. In addition to great articles, travel guide magazines have money saving offers on local restaurants, attractions, and tours.
Use filters to search efficiently:
- Choose your vacation dates and spending budget.
- Decide how many bedrooms and the configuration your group needs. Castle By The Sea has 5 bedrooms and 3 bathrooms.
- Specific descriptions of bedrooms and bed counts is usually accessible online. If not, call the property owner before booking the property. Remember that most property listings specify the max. guest capacity, which often includes pull-out couches. You will need to work out what configuration is suitable for your group.
- Some properties allow pets, but others do not. Acceptable types of dog or cat, size and breeds may be restricted, and added costs may apply. Ask the property management company about your furry family members before booking.
- Are you visiting for a specific event? Try a map search to find nearby properties.
- Suitable accessibility amenities can make or break a vacation for persons with a disability. .
Advice for a fantastic stay:
- Review check in & check out procedures before traveling. Take a printed copy, and save the directions to your smartphone.
- Property managers are great sources of help! Feel free to ask questions during your stay.
- Lock your vacation home while you are away. Protect the owner's property and your stuff!
- To make certain damages aren't linked to your visit, record any problem areas during check in. Contact the host right away to report any pre-existing damages. If there is a dispute about legal responsibility later, having a record of issues and contact attempts will be very helpful.
- Don't forget to respect your neighbors. Often, adjacent homes are occupied by permanent residents. Respecting late-night noise limits and parking rules can make a stay significantly more pleasurable.
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local! Neighbors can frequently help. Who better to ask where to get the best seafood, have a great night out, or the best spots for fishing?
- Just prior to departing, complete a final walk-through to make sure you did not forget anything. Make sure to check bathrooms, dressers, and closets for hidden belongings. Clean out the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Walk through the property a final time and look for any damage. We recommend walking through with the property manager whenever you can. If the manager isn't available, take video and pictures of the rental to record its condition at check-out.
- Did you have a fantastic vacation? Most rental home management companies make it easy for vacationers to provide comments. If your rental property and/or property manager was great, they will likely appreciate your kind words. If anything was imperfect and they failed to fix it reasonably, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make a note as part of your feedback.
