Strategies to get the perfect Rodanthe rental experience:
When to go & When to reserve a Hatteras rental home:
- June, July, and August are high season in the Hatteras area. To find the best value, try shifting your family's Hatteras vacation dates to the Spring or Fall seasons. May, September, and October offer excellent weather, less crowded beaches, and greatly reduced traffic.
- Reserve your vacation rental as early as possible. Rental schedules generally become available a year in advance (or in September just after Summer ends). Many families reserve their Summer rental homes during Thanksgiving and Christmas gatherings. Book before these holidays for best selection.
- Active Duty and veterans of the US Armed forces may be qualified for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property owner or host if your group qualifies for a price reduction.
- Property management companies usually offer renters an option to purchase vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which costs anywhere between 1% - 5% of the base reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for any missed days as a result of personal medical-related emergencies or weather disasters, as well as ensuing additional evacuation charges, such as an unexpected hotel overnight or additional gasoline expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a life-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your property manager for details.
- Find a copy of your local Hatteras visitors guide when you check-in. If your rental home doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local shops and visitor centers. In addition to great local articles, travel guides have discounts for local accommodations, tours and attractions.
Use filters to narrow your rental search:
- Select your dates and max budget.
- Note the number bedrooms and the bed configuration you need. Castle By The Sea has 5 bedrooms and 3 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our Hatteras vacation rental search.
- Precise descriptions of bedrooms and bed sizes & counts is often accessible on booking pages. If you don't see them listed, contact the property manager before you reserve the property. Remember that most listings specify the maximum guest capacity, which typically includes sofa beds. You will need to work out what is optimal for your vacation family.
- Does your family require particular amenities? Most rental websites include search filters with amenity lists.
- Proper accessibility amenities can make or break a vacation for persons with a disability. .
- If your family is traveling with pets, filter your search for a property that allows animals. Make sure to ask for details on breed, weight, and type requirements. Some property managers charge additional pet fees.
More tips for your stay:
- Be sure you get the host's phone number and arrival/departure procedures for your rental property. Store the host's information in your smartphone and wallet.
- Upon check-in, make note of any damages to the property and immediately contact the host. Record all correspondence in case a dispute arises.
- Ask questions. You may need instructions for a hot tub, television set or kitchen appliance. Contact your property manager. They are there to help! A brief text message can prevent quite a few problems.
- Respecting late-night quiet hours and parking regulations can make a stay significantly more pleasurable. You will enhance your chance to make local friends, and resident neighbors are an incredible resource to find the best local beaches and restaurants.
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Locals can usually help you find exactly what you're looking for. Who better to ask where to order the best nachos, have a great night out, or the best spots for fishing?
- Protect the property owner (and your things!) by locking and securing the home while you are out, just like you would back home.
- When it's time to leave, complete a walk-through to make sure you haven't leave anything behind. Make sure to check bathrooms, dressers, and closets for hidden belongings. Clean the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Go through the property one final time and look for any damage. We suggest walking through with the property manager whenever possible. If the host isn't available, take photographs of the property to record its condition.
- Remember to leave feedback! Property managers rely on good feedback to propel more bookings. They'll be much obliged for your feedback. Alternatively, if something wasn't as described, other vacationing families will be thankful you shared your experience and help them have the best future vacation. Be fair with your review. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the owner could control the issue, and if so, whether they responded quickly to solve it.
