Strategies to get the very best rental home experience:
When to reserve a Hatteras rental & When to go:
- In the Hatteras area, The earlier you can book a rental home, the easier your search will be. The best rental properties are booked early. Booking your rental home six to twelve months before your travel dates is recommended. Christmas, Thanksgiving and New Years Eve are excellent times to plan and book your vacation rental.
- To get the best value, change your group's trip dates to the Spring or Fall seasons. May, September, and October offer pleasant temperatures, , and reduced traffic.
- Some property managers offer discounts for veterans and active duty military. Ask your host or property manager if special discounts are available for your family.
- Property management companies frequently offer their guests an option to purchase vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which costs 1% - 5% of the base booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for missed vacation time as a result of personal medical-related emergencies or weather, as well as ensuing additional hurricane evacuation costs, such as an unanticipated hotel or additional fuel expenses. Trip insurance can be a a life-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your host for more information.
- Find a copy of your local Hatteras visitors guide magazine upon arrival. If your rental home doesn't have one, you can find them at local shops and fuel stations. In addition to great local information, visitor guide magazines have offers and deals for nearby shops and restaurants.
Narrow your rental Search:
- Begin by choosing potential vacation weeks and a budget.
- Determine how many bedrooms and the bed configuration your group requires. Canalfront Dog Friendly Home w\/ Hot Tub and Boat Dock. Enjoy a Tequila Sunrise! has 6 bedrooms and 6 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our vacation rental search.
- Specific details about bedrooms and bed types is generally available on booking pages. Otherwise, reach out to the property manager before reserving your rental. Note that most listings specify the maximum guest capacity, which frequently includes sofa beds and bunks. You'll need to work out what is suitable for your family.
- Traveling with pets? Many vacation homes allow animals, but guidelines and restrictions apply. Type of pet, size and breeds may be limited. Remember to ask your host before booking, and study your agreement! Extra fees or might be applied to your invoice.
- Visiting for a specific attraction or event? Use a map search to locate nearby rentals.
- Appropriate accessibility amenities can make or break a vacation for persons with a disability. Make certain to ask about specialized equipment and wheel chair accessibility.
More considerations:
- Get the owner's phone number and arrival/departure procedures for your rental home.
- Property managers are available to help! Don't be shy to ask questions before, during, or after your stay.
- Ensure you protect the owner (and your things!) by locking the property when you are out, just like you would at home.
- During arrival, note any damages to the property and immediately alert the host. Record all correspondence in case a dispute arises.
- Respecting late-night quiet hours and parking rules can make a stay more pleasurable. You'll increase your chance to make some new local friends, and resident neighbors are a terrific resource to find the best local spots.
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local! Residents can usually help you find exactly what you're looking for. Who better to ask where to rent beach equipment, have a great night out, or the best spots for bird watching?
- Just before checking out, complete a walk-through to confirm you haven't forget any personal items. Re-check bathrooms, dressers, and closets for hidden items. Clean out the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Inspect the rental a final time and look for damages to contents or the property itself. We recommend walking through with the host whenever you can. If the property manager is not available, ensure that you take photos and video of the rental to record its condition.
- Remember to leave feedback! Property managers rely on good ratings to stimulate new bookings. They'll be grateful for your review. Alternatively, if something went awry, other families will be thankful you shared your review and help them have the best future vacation. Be fair with your review. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the property manager had any control over the issue, and if so, whether they responded reasonably to solve it.
