Strategies to get the very best vacation rental experience:
When to visit Buxton & When to book:
- In the Hatteras area, The sooner your group can reserve a vacation rental, the easier your search will be. The most desirable rental homes are reserved early. Reserving your vacation property six - twelve months before your vacation dates is recommended. Christmas, Thanksgiving and New Years Eve are excellent times to plan and reserve your vacation rental.
- Summertime is high season in the Hatteras area. Reserving a rental home in the Spring or Fall is one of our best tips for saving money on your rental home. Rental rates are lower, and you'll find a larger selection of desirable properties.
- Some hosts and property managers offer rate reductions for veterans. It's always a good idea to check with your property manager to see if special offers are available for your group.
- Booking websites frequently offer customers an option to buy vacation insurance. Trip insurance, which generally costs 1% - 5% of the booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for any missed days as a result of medical-related issues or weather, as well as ensuing additional hurricane evacuation charges, such as an unanticipated hotel overnight or additional gas expenses. Trip insurance can be a a welcome relief if the unforeseen happens. Ask your host for additional information.
- Find a copy of your local visitors guide upon arrival. If your rental property doesn't have one, you can find them at local grocery stores and visitor centers. In addition to great local stories, visitor guide magazines contain coupons for local accommodations and attractions.
Choosing the perfect rental home in Buxton:
- Begin by choosing vacation dates and a max budget.
- Note the number bedrooms and the configuration you need. Buxton Woods ground floor apartment has 2 bedrooms and 1 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our rental home search.
- Precise information about bedrooms and bed counts is almost always available on booking pages. Otherwise, call the property management company before you reserve your home. Note that most listings specify the maximum guest capacity, which usually includes pull-out couches.
- If your group is vacationing with pets, you must book a property that allows animals. Make sure to ask for details on breed, weight, and type restrictions. Some hosts charge additional pet fees.
- If there's a particular Hatteras attraction you long to visit, search for properties that are either near by, or those that cater especially to your desires.
- Proper accessibility amenities can make or ruin a vacation for persons with a disability. Make certain to inquire about specialized equipment and wheel chair accessibility.
Some things to know before you go:
- Put the host's contact information in your smartphone and wallet.
- Ask questions. You may want instructions for a fireplace, television set or WIFI setup. Contact your host. They are there to help! A brief telephone call prevents a lot of problems.
- Keep your rental home locked while you are gone! Don't let crooks ruin your trip.
- Make a record of any damages to the property upon arrival, and immediately send them to the host. We especially recommend e-mails and text messages, as they usually contain time stamps that are beneficial if a dispute is filed.
- Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like unpleasant visitors disrupting your peaceful neighborhood. Apply the golden rule for common sense. Happy residents may even recommend great beaches and attractions you would have never otherwise known!
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Locals can typically point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to order delicious takeout, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for crabbing?
- Double-check the rental property to confirm that you've packed all personal items at departure. Check dressers, closets, and bathrooms for hidden belongings. Clean out the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Record a video to document the condition of the property.
- Did your group have a fantastic stay? Most rental websites make it easy for customers to provide reviews. If your property and/or host was terrific, they would love to hear it. If anything was defective and they failed to fix it in a reasonable manner, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make it a point as part of your feedback.
