Tips and Tricks for getting the perfect vacation home experience:

Find your perfect rental home:

  • In the Hatteras area, The earlier you can reserve a vacation rental, the easier your search will be. The most desirable properties are reserved early. Booking your vacation property six to twelve months before your vacation dates is recommended. Holidays such as Christmas and Thanksgiving are excellent times to search for and book your vacation home.
  • Summertime is high season in Avon. To book the best vacation home within your budget, we strongly suggest booking in the Fall or Spring. You'll benefit from lower rates, greater selection, warm weather and the absence of large crowds at the beach and popular Hatteras attractions.
  • Some property managers offer promotional rates for veterans. Ask your property manager if special discounts are available for your group before you book.
  • Management companies and individual rental owners typically offer guests an option to obtain vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which will generally cost anywhere between 1% - 5% of the reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for days missed as a result of personal medical-related catastrophes or weather, as well as ensuing additional evacuation costs, such as an unanticipated hotel or extra gas expenses. Trip insurance can be a a bank account-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your property manager for specifics.
  • Often, management companies supply Hatteras area travel guides which often include money-saving offers, either offered independently by local businesses, or by way of a relationship with the management company and the business itself. You can also find visitors guide and coupon books at local shops and grocery stores.

Selecting the best vacation rental in Avon:

  • Select a group lead, select your dates, and select a max budget.
  • Determine how many bedrooms and what type of bedroom configuration your family needs. Beachfront on the Dunes -- Fall Asleep to the Waves has 4 bedrooms and 5 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our Hatteras rental home search.
  • Specific information regarding bedrooms and bed counts & types is commonly accessible on booking pages. If not, reach out to the property owner before reserving the property. Remember that most listings specify the max. guest capacity, which frequently includes sofa beds.
  • Some properties allow pets, but some do not. Allowable types of family pet, size and breeds may be restricted, and additional fees may apply. Ask the property manager about allowable pet guidelines before booking.
  • Are you visiting for a single attraction? If so, use a map search to browse nearby rentals.
  • Suitable accessibility amenities can make or break a vacation for persons with disabilities. .

More considerations:

  • Add the property manager's phone number to your phone. Understand and take a copy of check in/check out procedures.
  • Property managers are there to help! Don't be shy to ask any questions before, during, or after your stay.
  • Lock your rental property while you're away! Don't let burglars ruin your holiday.
  • To make sure no damages are linked to your family's visit, note any problem areas upon your arrival. Contact the property manager immediately to document any pre-existing damages. If there is a dispute about who is responsible, having a record of concerns and contact attempts will be very helpful.
  • Respect your neighbors. Often times, surrounding homes are occupied by local residents. Respecting late-night noise limits and parking regulations is the right thing to do.
  • Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Local residents can often point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to rent beach equipment, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for crabbing?
  • Don't leave anything behind! Before departing, take a walk through the property to confirm you've collected all of your things. Remember to check garages, decks, and cabinets for hidden items. Clean out the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
  • Go through the property one final time and look for damages to contents or the property itself. We recommend walking through with the property manager whenever you can. If the host isn't available, take video and pictures of the property to record its condition at check-out.
  • Leave feedback! Property owners rely on excellent reviews to propel future reservations. They'll be much obliged for your review. Alternatively, if something wasn't right, other vacationers will appreciate that you share your feedback and help them have the best future vacation. Please be objective. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the host had any control over the issue, and if so, whether they responded reasonably to solve it.
