As you pull into the driveway, the towering wall of windows tells you you're in for an amazing vacation. Steps from the beach walkway, this home enjoys a lakefront location and marvelous vistas from all levels. You can even find numerous spots in the home where you can watch both the sunrise and sunset from the same spot. Professionally decorated by Hatteras Island Design Center, all aspects of the home will delight your entire group.

The oak staircase will wind you up to the living room level, where an broad living room awaits with a high, vaulted, and beamed ceiling and a wall of windows looking out over the Atlantic. Unwind with the group on the huge sectional couch to watch TV on the upsized TV, or sit fireside and catch up with a good friend. You'll also find a handsome dining room table that comfortably seats up to 16 guests and looks out over the Lake. The gorgeous gourmet kitchen features a commercial 6-burner gas stove and a stainless steel hood. The kitchen bar also serves as a wet bar with a sink and commercial ice maker. Of course, two fridges are a necessity for such a kitchen.

One more flight up, you'll find two enormous primary bedrooms. One of the rooms features a whirlpool tub sizable enough for an adult to fit comfortably, or two kids to use as a splash tub. The vistas from these bedrooms, with private verandas, are breathless. Go down to the middle level where four more primary bedrooms, including a bunk room, have their own privacy. One features another whirlpool tub and all have private access to the decks.

Head back down to the lower level for a game of pool in the game room complete with another wet bar and commercial ice maker which comes in handy for the pool and hot tub off of this room. Just outside awaits a huge pool with plenty of decking and seating. Or you can relax in the hot tub overlooking the lake. Yet another door takes you into the sauna, ideal for a bit of self-care. Another door leads to the theater room with tiered leather seating for up to 20 guests, plus a 12-foot silver screen, an HD projector hooked into the DirecTV or Blu-Ray DVD system. You may find the kids disappearing into this room throughout the week. But don't forget some adult time to view your favorite shows or movies. Universal features include an elevator for all those groceries, DirecTV and TVs in all rooms, and water vistas on all levels in nearly any direction. As its name implies, you'll find yourself engulfed in Tranquility throughout your vacation while smiling at the exceptional time you have included to all around you. Cheers!

Tips and Tricks to get the perfect Waves rental home experience:

Get the most from your rental budget:

  • Summer is high season in Waves. To book the largest rental within your budget, we recommend booking in Spring or Fall. You'll benefit from lower rental rates, better selection, warm weather and the absence of giant crowds at the beach and popular attractions. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook Winter holidays for a Hatteras vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday on the coast? Thanksgiving and Christmas are great times to gather with family and friends at the beach.
  • Book your vacation home as early as possible. Rental schedules generally open twelve months in advance (or in September just after Summertime ends). Many families reserve their Summer rentals during Thanksgiving and Christmas gatherings. Book before these holidays for best selection.
  • Some hosts offer rate reductions for veterans. Ask your host or property manager if special offers are available for your group.
  • Property management companies often offer renters an option to add vacation insurance. Trip insurance, which generally costs anywhere between 1% - 5% of the base reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for any days missed as a result of personal medical-related catastrophes or weather disasters, as well as ensuing additional evacuation costs, such as an unexpected hotel or additional fuel expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a bank account-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask the property owner for more information.
  • Look for your local Hatteras visitors guide magazine upon arrival. If your rental home doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local grocery stores and visitor centers. In addition to great information, visitors guide magazines have money saving offers on nearby accommodations, tours and attractions.

How to choose and book the perfectvacation home:

  • First and foremost, have your family choose date ranges and a spending budget.
  • Note the number beds and the bed configuration your family requires. Beach home overlooking the ocean with pool, hot tub, sauna, & balcony has 6 bedrooms and 8 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our search.
  • Precise information regarding bedrooms and bed types is often available on booking websites. If you don't see them listed, email the property owner before you book the home. Remember that most listings specify the maximum guest capacity, which usually includes pull out couches in living rooms. You will need to work out which bed configuration is optimal for your vacation family.
  • Are you looking for unique amenities? Most rental search websites include search filters for amenities. Use these to your advantage to find the perfect rental home.
  • Appropriate accessibility can make or ruin a vacation for guests that require the use of a wheelchair. Confirm all required amenities are available before booking.
  • Do your family pets travel with you? Although a number of vacation homes allow pets or animals, guidelines and costs vary per property. Allowable pet type, breed, and size are often limited. Remember to ask the property manager before booking, and study your agreement thoroughly! Pet fees or costs might be applied to your agreement.

Some things to know before you go:

  • Add the owner's contact information to your phone. Take a copy of arrival/departure procedures.
  • During arrival, note any damages to the rental property and immediately alert the property manager. Record all coorespondence.
  • Ask questions. You may want instructions for a hot tub, stereo or kitchen appliance. Contact your host. They are there to help! A brief call prevents lots of problems.
  • Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like loud vacationers bothering your home life. Employ the golden rule for best judgement. Happy residents may even recommend great local food and scenic spots you would've not otherwise known!
  • Don't forget to... Ask a local resident! Residents can often point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to grab the best tacos, have a great night out, or the best spots for BBQ?
  • Protect the property owner (and your things!) by locking the property when you are gone, just like you would back home.
  • When it's time to leave, take a final walk-through to confirm you didn't forget anything. Make sure to check dressers, closets, and bathrooms for hidden items. Clean out the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
  • Walk through the property one final time and keep an eye out for any damage. We advise walking through with the host whenever you can (often this isn't possible). If the manager is not available, ensure that you take photos of the rental to record its condition at check-out.
  • Did you have a terrific vacation? Most rental home management companies make it easy for travelers to provide reviews. If your rental and/or property management company was wonderful, they will likely appreciate your kind words. If anything was out of order and they failed to correct it reasonably, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make it a point as part of your review.
