How to get the best Hatteras rental experience:
When to go & When to reserve a Hatteras rental home:
- Book your vacation home as early as possible. Rental schedules often become available a year in advance (or in September just after Summertime ends). Many families reserve their Summer rental homes during Christmas and Thanksgiving get-togethers. Reserve before these holidays for best selection.
- June, July, and August are high season in Hatteras. Booking in Fall or Spring months is a great way to save on your vacation. Rates are lower, and you'll find a larger selection of acceptable properties. Many vacationers use this method to reserve larger homes, or to reserve an oceanfront vacation rental that would otherwise be unaffordable during the Summer months.
- Active Duty and veterans of the US Armed forces may be qualified for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property manager whether your family qualifies for a discount.
- Booking websites often offer renters an option to add trip insurance protection. Trip insurance, which normally costs anywhere between 1% - 5% of the base reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for any missed vacation time as a result of personal medical-related emergencies or weather, as well as ensuing additional evacuation costs or charges, such as an unanticipated hotel or additional fuel expenses. Trip insurance might be a a life-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your property manager for details.
- Often, property management companies supply Hatteras area visitors guide magazines which include money-saving offers, either offered directly by local businesses, or by way of a partnership between the rental management company and the business itself. You can also find Hatteras area magazine and coupon books at local shops and grocery stores.
Choosing and booking the right Hatteras rental:
- To start, have your family choose dates and a budget.
- Determine how many bedrooms and the configuration your group needs. Austin's Pointe is just a short walk to the beach. Ocean and sound views. has 4 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our search.
- Precise descriptions of bedrooms and bed counts & types is normally accessible online. If not, reach out to the host before reserving your rental. Note that most listings specify the max. guest capacity, which frequently includes sofa beds and bunks.
- Some rental properties allow pets, but some do not. Acceptable types of dog or cat, weight and breeds may be restricted, and additional costs may apply. Ask the host about your furry family members before booking.
- Are you visiting for a specific event or attraction? Try a map search to find nearby properties.
- Suitable accessibility can make or ruin a vacation for persons with a disability. Confirm all necessary amenities are included before reserving a rental.
More considerations for your visit:
- Add the host's phone number to your phone. Understand and take a copy of arrival/departure procedures.
- Property managers are available to help! Don't be shy to ask questions before, during, or after your stay.
- Lock your vacation home while you are out. Protect your property!
- Note any damages to the rental upon arrival, and immediately e-mail them to the property manager. We especially recommend e-mails and text messages, as they usually contain built-in time stamps that can be beneficial if a dispute arises.
- Respecting late-night quiet hours and parking rules can make a stay significantly more pleasurable. You will magnify your chance to make some new local friends, and resident neighbors are often a terrific source for finding the best local attractions.
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local! Neighbors can usually point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to charter a fishing boat, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for BBQ?
- On check-out day, take a final walk-through to confirm you did not leave anything behind. Re-check dressers, closets, and bathrooms for hidden belongings. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Inspect the property a final time and keep an eye out for damage. We suggest inspecting the property with the property manager whenever you can. If the manager is not available, remember to take photos and video of the property to record its condition.
- After your trip, leave a review! Property managers rely on excellent reviews to drive more bookings. They'll be grateful for your review. Alternatively, if something wasn't right, other families will will be grateful for your feedback find their best vacation rental. Remember to be objective. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the manager had any control over the issue, and if so, whether they responded quickly to fix it.
