Vacation rental home tips and tricks:
How to get the best rental home value:
- Book your rental as soon as possible. Rental schedules usually open twelve months in advance (or in September just after Summertime ends). Many groups reserve their Summer rentals during Christmas and Thanksgiving gatherings. Reserve before these holidays for best selection.
- Reserve your Hatteras vacation home in the Spring or Fall to get the benefit of gorgeous weather while saving money and avoiding crowds. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook Winter holidays for a Hatteras vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday vacation near the ocean? Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years are great times to gather with friends and family at the beach.
- Some property managers offer discounts for veterans and active duty military. It's always a good idea to check with your host or property manager to see if special offers are available for your family.
- Property managers often offer guests an option to buy trip insurance protection. Trip insurance, which usually will cost between 1% - 5% of the base stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for any missed vacation time as a result of personal medical-related emergencies or weather disasters, as well as ensuing additional hurricane evacuation costs, such as an unanticipated hotel overnight or extra gasoline expenses. Trip insurance can be a a bank account-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your property manager for specifics.
- Often, property management companies supply Hatteras area travel guide magazines which often include money-saving offers, either offered directly by local businesses, or through a relationship with the rental management company and the business itself. You can also find Hatteras visitors guide magazine and coupon books at local gas stations and shopping centers.
Filter your search:
- First and foremost, have your group select vacation dates and a maximum budget.
- Determine how many beds and the configuration you need. 8342 Lifesaver's Haven * 5 Min Walk to Beach has 4 bedrooms and 3 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our rental home search.
- Specific information about bedrooms and bed counts & types is often accessible on booking websites. Otherwise, email or call the property owner before reserving your rental. Remember that most listings specify the maximum guest capacity, which frequently includes sofa beds and bunks.
- If your group is vacationing with pets, you must reserve a pet-friendly property. Ask for details on breed, weight, and type restrictions. Note that some property managers charge additional pet fees.
- Are you visiting for a single event? Try a map search to find nearby properties.
- Suitable accessibility can make or ruin a vacation for persons with a disability. Confirm all required amenities are available and included before reserving a rental
More tips for your stay:
- Take a copy of the host's contact number and entry/exit procedures for your rental. We recommend storing the manager's contact information in your smartphone and wallet.
- Ask questions. You may want instructions for a fireplace, elevator or coffee maker. Contact your host. They are there to help! A brief telephone call can prevent lots of difficulties.
- Lock your rental while you are away. Protect the owner's property and your stuff!
- To make certain that damages are not attributed to your family's visit, make a record of any problem areas when you arrive. Make contact with the host immediately to record any issues. If there is a dispute, having the recorded issues and contact attempts will be very helpful.
- Respect the neighborhood. Often, adjacent homes are filled by local residents. Respecting quiet hours and parking rules reduces conflict and allows everyone to enjoy their day.
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local! Locals can often help. Who better to ask where to order the best nachos, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for fine dining?
- Just prior to departing, complete a walk-through to confirm you didn't forget anything. Re-check closets, dressers, garages, and bathrooms for hidden items. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Document the condition of the property at check-out. We recommend taking a video during your final walk-through.
- Leave a review! Property owners rely on excellent reviews to propel future reservations. They'll be thankful for your review. Alternatively, if something went wrong, other vacationers will will be grateful for your review and help them have the best future vacation. Please be objective. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the manager could control the issue, and if so, whether they responded reasonably to fix it.
