Our top Buxton vacation rental home tips and tricks:
Find your perfect rental home:
- Reserve your rental as early as possible. Rental schedules usually open twelve months in advance (or in September just after Summer ends). Many groups reserve their Summer rentals during Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years Eve gatherings. Book before these holidays for best selection.
- June, July, and August are the most expensive months in coastal NC. Book your rental property in Fall or Spring to enjoy beautiful weather while saving money and avoiding crowds.
- Veterans and Active Duty Military members may be qualified for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property owner if your vacationing group qualifies for a special promotion or discount.
- Property managers frequently offer renters an option to obtain trip insurance. Trip insurance, which generally will cost between 1% - 5% of the base booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for missed time as a result of medical-related emergencies or weather disasters, as well as evacuation costs, such as an unexpected hotel overnight or extra gas expenses. Trip insurance might be a a life-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your host for additional information.
- Often, rental management companies supply Hatteras area visitor guides that include coupons, either offered directly by local companies, or through a relationship between the management company and the business itself. You can also find Hatteras area magazine and coupon books at local gas stations and shopping centers.
Use filters to search efficiently:
- Begin by selecting vacation dates and a spending budget.
- Note the number bedrooms and the configuration your family needs. Waterfront house with private pool, hot tub, W\/D, &vocean view has 4 bedrooms and 5 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our Hatteras vacation rental search.
- Precise details about bedrooms and bed types is normally accessible on booking websites. If you don't see them listed, email the property management company before reserving your home. Note that most property listings specify the maximum guest capacity, which oftentimes includes sofa beds and bunks.
- If your group is traveling with pets, you will need a property that allows animals. Request details on breed, size, and type requirements. Note that some hosts require additional pet deposits and fees.
- Does your family require specific amenities? Most rental websites include search filters with amenity lists. Filtering by amenity will allow you to quickly find the best rental.
- Suitable accessibility amenities can make or ruin a vacation for those with limited mobility. Make certain to inquire about wheel chair entry, pool lifts and specialized equipment needs.
More tips for your stay:
- Be sure you get the host's contact number and entry/exit procedures for your rental property.
- Ask questions. You may need instructions for a garage door opener, television set or coffee maker. Contact your property manager. They are there to help! A brief telephone call prevents quite a few problems.
- Protect the owner (and your things!) by locking the property when you are out, just like you would at home.
- To ensure that damages are not linked to your family's stay, inspect the property for any problem areas upon check in. Speak to the host right away to report any issues. If there is a dispute about legal responsibility later, having the recorded problems and contact attempts will be very helpful.
- Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like obnoxious visitors disrupting your peaceful home life. Use the golden rule for best judgement. Happy residents may even recommend great restaurants and places you would've never otherwise known about!
- Don't forget to... Ask a local resident! Locals can frequently help. Who better to ask where to take kids for a treat, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for BBQ?
- Double-check every room of the vacation property to make sure that you've packed all personal items at check-out. Re-check bathrooms, dressers, and closets for hidden items. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Walk through the rental one final time and scan for damage. We suggest inspecting the property with the host whenever you can. If the host isn't available, remember to take photos and video of the rental to record its condition.
- After your trip, leave a review! Property managers rely on great ratings to drive new reservations. They'll be grateful for your review. Alternatively, if something went wrong, other vacationing families will will be grateful for your experience find their best vacation home. Please be objective. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the owner could control the issue, and if so, whether they responded expeditiously to solve it.
