Getting the best Frisco vacation property experience:
Cost saving strategies:
- June, July, and August are the most expensive months along the coast of NC. Booking a rental in the Fall or Spring is an excellent way to save on your rental home. Rental rates are lower, and you'll find a better selection of acceptable properties.
- In the Hatteras area, The earlier you can book a rental home, the easier your search will be. The best rental properties are reserved early. Reserving your rental property 6-12 months before your travel dates is recommended. Holiday gatherings are excellent times to plan and book your rental home.
- Active Duty and veterans of the US Armed forces may be qualified for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property owner if your family qualifies for a special promotion or discount.
- Property management companies often offer customers an option to buy vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which costs between 1% - 5% of the booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for missed days as a result of medical-related catastrophes or weather disasters, as well as ensuing additional evacuation costs or charges, such as an unexpected hotel or additional fuel expenses. Trip insurance can be a a life-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your property manager for more information.
- Often, property management companies supply Hatteras area visitors guides which will include special deals, either offered independently by local businesses, or through a partnership between the property management company and the business itself. You can also find Hatteras area magazine and coupon books at local gas stations and shopping centers.
Selecting and booking your prefectrental:
- Choose a designated group leader, choose your vacation week, and select a max budget.
- Note the number bedrooms and what type of bedroom configuration your family requires. Waterfront home with amazing sunrise\/set views, kayaks, SUPs, dock & pool access has 3 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms.
- Precise information about bedrooms and bed counts & types is normally available on booking pages. If they are not listed, email or call the host before you book the property. Note that most listings specify maximum guest capacity, which typically includes pull out couches in living rooms.
- Does your group require specific amenities? Most rental search websites include search filters with amenity lists. Filtering by amenity will allow you to quickly find the perfect rental.
- Proper accessibility amenities can make or ruin a vacation for those with limited mobility. Confirm all required amenities are available and included before booking
- Remember to include your furry companions! Many vacation homes allow animals, but guidelines and restrictions apply. Allowable pet type, breed, and size are often limited. Make sure to ask before booking, and study your agreement! Pet fees or could be applied to your invoice.
Tips for a great stay:
- Take a copy of the host's contact number and arrival/departure procedures for your rental.
- To ensure that damages aren't linked to your visit, make a record of any problem areas upon check in. Speak to the rental manager immediately to report any pre-existing damages. If there is a dispute about legal responsibility later, having the recorded problems and contact attempts will be valuable.
- Property managers are there to help! Feel free to ask questions during your stay.
- Don't forget to respect your neighbors. Often times, surrounding homes are occupied by local residents. Respecting noise limits and parking regulations is the right thing to do.
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local! Local residents can frequently help. Who better to ask where to launch your kayaks, have a great night out, or the best spots for crabbing?
- Protect the rental owner (and your things!) by locking the property while you are away, just like you would back home.
- On check-out day, take a final walk-through to make sure you did not leave anything behind. Check closets, dressers, garages, and bathrooms for hidden belongings. Clean the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Document the condition of the property at check-out. We recommend taking a video during your final walk-through.
- Did you have a great stay? Most rental management companies make it easy for customers to provide comments. If your rental and/or host was fantastic, they will likely appreciate your kind words. If anything was out of order and they failed to address it within reason, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make it a point as part of your comments.
