Our top Vacation rental home tips and tricks:

When to visit Frisco & When to reserve a Hatteras rental home:

  • Book your vacation rental as soon as possible. Rental schedules usually open a year in advance (or in September just after the Summer season ends). Many groups reserve their Summer rentals during Thanksgiving and Christmas gatherings. Book before these holidays for best selection.
  • June, July, and August are the most expensive months in Frisco. To find the best value, consider shifting your vacation to the Spring or Fall shoulder seasons. May, September, and even October offer warm weather, fewer crowds, and greatly reduced traffic. Many vacationers use this method to reserve larger homes, or to book an oceanfront vacation rental that would otherwise be unaffordable during the Summer months. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook Winter holidays for a Hatteras vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday vacation on the coast? Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years are great times to gather with friends and family at the beach.
  • Some hosts offer discounts for veterans. Ask your host or property manager if rate reductions are available for your family before you book.
  • Property management companies typically offer renters an option to purchase vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which will generally cost anywhere between 1% - 5% of the base stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for missed days as a result of medical-related issues or weather disasters, as well as hurricane evacuation costs, such as an unexpected hotel overnight or extra fuel expenses. Trip insurance can be a a life-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask the property owner for more information.
  • Often, property management companies supply Hatteras area travel guides which will include coupons, either offered directly by local companies, or through a relationship with the property management company and the business itself. You can also find Hatteras visitors guide magazine and coupon books at local shops and grocery stores.

Use filters to narrow your search:

  • Start by selecting a vacation week and a maximum budget.
  • Note the number beds and the configuration your family needs. UPDATED for 2024! Waterfront dog friendly home on deep water with dock in Frisco has 5 bedrooms and 3 bathrooms.
  • Specific information regarding bedrooms and bed counts is often accessible on booking pages. If they are not listed, email or call the property manager before booking the rental. Remember that most property listings specify the maximum guest capacity, which usually includes pull-out couches. You'll need to determine what configuration is optimal for your family.
  • If your group is traveling with pets, you'll need to search for a pet-friendly rental. Ask for details on breed, size, and type requirements. Usually, property managers charge additional pet fees.
  • Visiting for a single event? Use a map search to find nearby rentals.
  • Suitable accessibility amenities can make or ruin a vacation for the less-mobile. Remember to confirm all required amenities are available and included before booking

More tips for your stay:

  • Store the host's information in your smartphone.
  • Property managers are there to help! Don't be shy to ask any questions during your stay.
  • Keep your rental home locked while you are out! Don't let thieves ruin your trip.
  • Note any damages to the rental during check in, and immediately e-mail them to the property manager. We especially recommend texts and e-mails, as they usually contain built-in time stamps that can be useful if damages are assessed.
  • Be respectful of your neighbors. Frequently, adjacent homes are occupied by local residents. Respecting late-night noise limits and parking rules can make a stay significantly more pleasurable.
  • Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Neighbors can usually help. Who better to ask where to get the best breakfast in town, have a great night out, or the best spots for fine dining?
  • At departure, take a final walk-through to make sure you did not leave anything behind. Check bathrooms, dressers, and closets for hidden items. Clean out the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
  • Go through the rental a final time and look for damage. We suggest inspecting the property with the property manager whenever you can. If the property manager is not available, remember to take photos of the property to record its condition.
  • After your trip, leave feedback! Property managers rely on excellent feedback to stimulate more reservations. They'll be much obliged for your review. Alternatively, if something wasn't right, other vacationing families will appreciate that you share your experience find their best vacation home. Please be fair with your feedback If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the property manager could control the issue, and if so, whether they responded reasonably to remedy it.
