Start your vacation off with a dip in the private swimming pool and the bubbly hot tub close by, tucked just under the home for privacy. Let the pups run freely in the completely fenced-in yard. Appreciate a game of pool in the game room and store your pool and beach drinks in the full-size refrigerator at the wet bar which also offers a microwave and dishwasher. A full bath is also on this level for fast trips in from the pool or beach. Step up to the mid-level of the home where you can choose from three king bedrooms and a bunk bedroom. Two of the kings are masters with private baths and the third shares a full bath with the bunk bedroom. Also on this level is the washer/dryer, and the decks on this level offer covered seating and a hammock. The final king master bedroom is located one more level up and offers a private bath with Jacuzzi tub. The roomy great room was furnished to provide seating and entertainment for the group and features vaulted ceilings and open floorplan with the dining area that seats 10. Open the slider from the dining area to enter the covered porch with seating and vistas of both the ocean and sound. Nearby the kitchen is well-equipped for whipping up meals, with a fresh herb garden on the deck, and seating at the breakfast bar for simple conversation during meal-prep. Located in Salvo, this vacation home is on the beach. When to reserve a Hatteras rental & When to go:

• Reserve your vacation rental as early as possible. Rental schedules often become available a year in advance (or in September just after Summertime ends). Many families book their Summer vacations during Thanksgiving and Christmas gatherings. Reserve before these holidays for best selection.
• To find the best value, shift your family's Hatteras vacation week to the Spring or Fall months. May, September, and October offer warm temperatures, , and greatly reduced traffic. Many vacationers use this method to reserve larger homes, or to book a beach front rental that would otherwise be unaffordable during the Summer months. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook the holidays for a Hatteras vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday vacation on the coast? Thanksgiving and Christmas are great times to gather with friends and family at your favorite beach.
• Veterans and Active Duty Military members may be qualified for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property manager or host if your group qualifies for a special rate.
• Property management companies typically offer renters an option to purchase trip insurance. Trip insurance, which usually will cost between 1% - 5% of the stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for missed days as a result of personal medical-related emergencies or weather disasters, as well as hurricane evacuation costs or charges, such as an unexpected hotel or additional fuel expenses. Trip insurance can be a a bank account-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask the property owner for more information.
• Look for your local Hatteras area magazine upon arrival. If your rental home doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local shops and fuel stations. In addition to great information, visitors guides have offers and deals for local accommodations, tours and attractions.
