Strategies to get the perfect vacation home experience:

Getting the best rental value:

  • To find the best value, change your trip dates to the Spring or Fall shoulder seasons. May, September, and October offer great weather, fewer crowds, and greatly reduced traffic. Many vacationers use this method to find larger homes within budget, or to book an oceanfront rental that would otherwise be unaffordable during June, July, and August.
  • In the Hatteras area, The earlier your group can reserve a home, the better your selection will be. The most desirable rental homes are reserved very early. Booking your rental home up to 12 months before your vacation is recommended. Holidays such as Christmas and Thanksgiving are excellent times to plan and reserve your vacation rental.
  • Veterans and Active Duty Military members may be qualified for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective host if your group qualifies for a discount.
  • Property management companies frequently offer customers an option to add trip insurance protection. Trip insurance, which will generally cost anywhere between 1% - 5% of the base stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for any missed trip time as a result of medical-related catastrophes or weather disasters, as well as ensuing additional evacuation charges, such as an unanticipated hotel or additional fuel expenses. Trip insurance can be a a bank account-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask your host for details.
  • Look for your local Hatteras visitors guide magazine when you check-in. If your rental property doesn't have one, you can find them at local grocery stores and visitor centers. In addition to great local articles, visitor guide magazines have offers and deals for local shops and restaurants.

Choosing the best vacation rental in Avon:

  • Start by having your group choose date ranges and a spending budget.
  • Determine how many bedrooms and what type of bedroom configuration your family requires. Semi Oceanfront, Beach Access, Private Pool, Hot Tub, Game Room, & Dog Friendly has 5 bedrooms and 5 bathrooms.
  • Specific information regarding bedrooms and bed types is generally accessible on booking pages. Otherwise, email or call the property manager before you reserve your rental. Remember that most properties list the maximum guest capacity, which usually includes pull out couches in living rooms. You'll need to determine what is best for your trip.
  • Does your family require special amenities? Most websites include amenity lists and search filters. Filtering by amenity will allow you to quickly find your ideal rental home.
  • Appropriate accessibility amenities can make or break a vacation for persons with a disability. Confirm all required amenities are available and included before reserving a rental.
  • If your group is traveling with pets, you will need a pet-friendly property. Ask for details on breed, size, and type restrictions. Be aware that some hosts require additional pet deposits and fees.

Tips to have a wonderful stay:

  • Get the owner's contact number and arrival/departure procedures for your rental. Store the manager's information in your smartphone and wallet.
  • To make sure that no damages are attributed to your family's stay, make a record of any problem areas upon your arrival. text the rental manager immediately to document any issues. If there is a dispute about who is responsible, having the recorded issues and contact attempts will be valuable.
  • Ask questions. You may want instructions for a hot tub, intercom or WIFI setup. Contact your property manager. They are there to help! A brief text message can prevent many issues.
  • Respecting quiet hours and parking regulations can make a stay more pleasurable. You will magnify your chance to make some new local friends, and resident neighbors are a terrific source for finding the best local restaurants, beaches, and hangouts.
  • Don't forget to... Ask a local! Neighbors can usually help you find exactly what you're looking for. Who better to ask where to get the best breakfast in town, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for fishing?
  • Lock your rental home while you're out. Keep your property safe!
  • Double-check the property to confirm that you've packed all personal items at departure. Remember to check closets, dressers, garages, and bathrooms for hidden items. Clean the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
  • Document the condition of the property at check-out. We recommend taking a video during your final walk-through.
  • Did your family have a excellent time? Most rental home management companies make it easy for guests to provide comments. If your rental property and/or property manager was great, they would love to hear it. If anything was amiss and they failed to fix it in a reasonable manner, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make it a point as part of your feedback.
