Located on one of the most striking and unspoiled beaches on the East Coast. Moondance is located semi-oceanfront, on a cul-de-sac, in a very peaceful neighborhood in Salvo. Beach access is just across the cul-de-sac and the beach is a short 3 min. walk down the boardwalk. The sound is also a short, 5 min. walk down Farrow Dr., where you can find Hatteras Watersports that rents kayaks, standup paddleboards and other water sports equipment.
Moondance sits on a half acre, corner lot, which provides plenty of open space for viewing the sunrises and sunsets from the deck. The huge, fenced yard will allow you to let the dog out in the morning without having to go out with them.
The private pool provides a great alternative to the beach and the hot tub is right beside the pool. One of our favorite things about the home is sitting in the hot tub on a clear nighttime. The star vistas on Hatteras are gorgeous and you have a wide viewing area from the hot tub. Other outside amenities include an outdoor shower, a sizable basketball court, a gas grille, a charcoal grille and fish cleaning table.
The first floor has four bedrooms and two baths. The beds in the two main bedrooms are a king bed and a queen and these two bedrooms share a jock and jill bath. Bedroom number three has two twin beds and number four has two sets of bunk beds and these bedrooms share a hall bath. Three of the bedrooms have a TV (only the bunk room doesn't). The deck on this floor also has a comfortable swing and adirondack chairs for calming.
The upstairs great room includes the kitchen, half bath, as well as living and dining areas. The wet bar provides additional space for making beverages. There are two dining tables with seating for 10, plus 7 bar stools between the kitchen bar and the wet bar. The kitchen is very well outfitted for nights when you want to stay in and prepare.
The deck on the top floor was replaced in 2022 and provides adirondack and captain chair seating to take in the vistas and ocean breezes. There are gates on both decks that provide a convenient way to keep family pets contained while they appreciate the outdoors.
Other updates to the home in time for the 2023 season include all new stainless steel appliances, couch, loveseat and other furnishings

About the Area
Located near the beach, this vacation home is in Farrow Shores, a neighborhood in Salvo. Chicamacomico Life-Saving Station Historic Site and Museum and Studio 12 are cultural highlights, and some of the area's activities can be experienced at Oregon Inlet Fishing Center and Uncle Eddy's Frozen Custard and 18-Hole Mini Golf. Rodanthe Pier and Ocean Air Sports are also worth visiting. Be sure to check out the area's animals with activities such as game walks and birdwatching.

When to book a Hatteras rental home & When to go:
- June, July, and August are the most expensive months in Salvo. Reserve your Hatteras rental home in the Fall or Spring to get the benefit of warm weather while saving money and avoiding crowds. Many vacationers use this strategy to reserve larger homes, or to book a beach front rental that would otherwise be unavailable or unaffordable during June, July, and August. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook the holidays for a Hatteras vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday vacation near the ocean? Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years are great times to gather with loved ones at your favorite beach.
- In the Hatteras area, The sooner your group can reserve a vacation home, the easier your search will be. The most desirable rental homes are booked very early. Reserving your rental 6-12 months before your vacation dates is recommended. Christmas, Thanksgiving and New Years Eve are excellent times to plan and reserve your rental.
- Some owners offer discounts for veterans. Make sure to check with your property manager to see if special discounts are available for your group before you book.
- Property management companies usually offer guests an option to obtain trip insurance protection. Trip insurance, which usually will cost you between 1% - 5% of the booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for any days missed as a result of medical-related catastrophes or weather, as well as hurricane evacuation costs, such as an unanticipated hotel stay or extra gasoline expenses. - Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like loud vacationers disrupting your home life. Employ the golden rule for best judgement. Happy residents may even recommend great beaches and attractions you would have never otherwise known about!
- Don't forget to... Ask a local resident! Neighbors can usually help you find the best spots in town. Who better to ask where to order the best nachos, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for shopping?
- Protect the owner (and your things!) by locking and securing the home while you are gone, just like you would at home.
- Don't leave anything behind! Before departing, walk through the property to reconfirm you've collected everything. Check bathrooms, dressers, and closets for hidden items. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Walk through the property one final time and look for any damage. We advise walking through with the property manager whenever possible. If the host is not available, take photos and video of the property to record its condition at check-out.
- Did you have a fantastic stay? Many rental websites make it easy for customers to provide comments. If your rental and/or property management company was wonderful, they would love to hear it. If anything was wrong and they failed to correct it in a reasonable manner, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make a note as part of your comments.
