SOUNDFRONT Avon — N. Albacore Ln. — New for 2024!
Located at the tip of a peninsula and overlooking the vast Pamlico Sound, ON POINT is the ideal hideaway for those who appreciate to spend their days at the water. This three-bedroom, two-bathroom home can host up to six guests and features spectacular vistas, private access to the sound, and a 6-person hot tub. The wide and uncrowded ocean beach is within simple walking distance.
A huge, private sunbathing dock in waist-deep water is ideal for family play, launching paddle, kite, windsurf or wing sessions, fishing as nighttime falls over the plentiful sound, or simply calming to the rhythm of the lapping waves. A separate dock in the canal is more sheltered, and great for mooring a modest boat or personal watercraft. The two docks are connected by an accessible seawall, providing full access to the property’s broad waterfront. The grass in the roomy yard is ideal for games or for rigging watersport gear. The space under the home is decked, has a double door that opens to the soundfront, features a hot outdoor shower, and provides ample and well-thought-out storage for boards, sails, and beach gear. The hot tub is located on a separate deck with a full view of the sound and the canal.
An inverted design means the home’s communal space occupies the first level. A well-equipped kitchen has everything you need to make meal prep a breeze. The dining area offers ample seating for meals with a full-on view of the sound and the canal. Or choose to dine “al fresco,” at the enormous tables on the covered porch or on the rooftop deck with 360° vistas. Plentiful and comfortable seating in the great room inspires lazy evenings playing games or watching a movie on the sizable, wall-mounted Intelligent TV. There is also a queen bedroom featuring sound vistas on this floor, as well as a full hallway bathroom. The second level features two cavernous bedrooms with unobstructed vistas of the sound, where egrets and herons stalk through the wetlands in the morning, sails dot the water in the afternoon, and the sun gloriously sets in the evening. One room has a king bed and access to a separate deck, the other has two single beds. Both feature work desks and share a full hallway bathroom. All three bedrooms can be darkened with blackout shades.
Kite, windsurf and wing gear can be rented close by, and lessons can be taken on the water in front of the home. On windy days, you can always join the action, with direct access to one of the most fashionable spots on the Outer Banks. It features miles of shallow water, yet is consistently deep enough for foiling, and also a ideal freestyle or beginner area with no waves.
Even those who take their vacations at full speed will want to slow down and savor the natural beauty surrounding this home. Imagine yourself appreciating a relaxing soak in the hot tub as the sun sets over the water and stars begin to appear in the evening sky – really On Point!

Tips and Tricks to get the best Avon rental home experience:
Getting the best rental home value:
- Reserve your rental as early as possible. Rental schedules often open twelve months in advance (or in September just after the Summer season ends). Many families reserve their Summer rentals during holiday get-togethers. Reserve before these holidays for best selection.
- Summer months are high season in the Hatteras area. To book the best rental home within your budget, we highly recommend reserving in Spring or Fall. You'll benefit from lower rental rates, greater selection, beautiful weather and the absence of giant crowds at popular Hatteras attractions and restaurants. Many vacationers use this strategy to reserve larger homes, or to book an oceanfront rental that would otherwise be unaffordable during the Summer. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook the holidays for a Hatteras vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday vacation on the coast? Christmas, Thanksgiving, and New Years Eve are great times to gather with friends and family at the beach.
- Veterans and Active Duty Military members may qualify for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property owner or host if your group qualifies for a discount.
- Property managers typically offer guests an option to obtain trip insurance. Trip insurance, which normally costs anywhere between 1% - 5% of the base stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for missed days as a result of medical-related catastrophes or weather disasters, as well as ensuing additional evacuation costs, such as an unexpected hotel or extra fuel expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a welcome relief if the unforeseen occurs. Ask the property owner for details.
- Look for your local Hatteras area magazine upon checking in. If your rental home doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local shops and fuel stations. In addition to great local articles, travel guide magazines have coupons for nearby tours, shops, and attractions.
Planning and choosing the perfect Hatteras rental:
- Begin by choosing potential vacation weeks and a maximum budget.
- Determine how many beds and what type of bedroom configuration your family requires. This Soundfront Home is On Point! With Hot Tub, Boat Dock, and Windsports Access has 3 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our rentals search.
- Specific information regarding bedrooms and bed counts is generally available on booking websites. If you don't see them listed, call the property management company before you book your rental. Note that most property listings specify the max. guest capacity, which oftentimes includes pull-out couches. You will need to work out what bed configuration is suitable for your vacation family.
- Some rentals allow pets, and some don't. Allowable types of family pet, size and breeds may be restricted, and added costs may apply. Ask the property manager about pet restrictions before booking.
- If there's an individual Hatteras destination you long to visit, look for rentals that are either near by, or those that cater to your desires.
- Suitable accessibility can make or break a vacation for the less-mobile. Make certain to ask about specialized equipment and wheel chair accessibility.
Some things to know before you go:
- Get the property manager's phone number and arrival/departure procedures for your rental home. We recommend storing the host's contact information in your smartphone.
- Property managers are there to help! Feel free to ask questions during your stay.
- Ensure you protect the rental owner (and your things!) by locking the property while you are gone, just like you would at home.
- To make certain that no damages are attributed to your stay, note any problem areas when you arrive. E-mail the property manager immediately to report your findings. If there is a dispute about who is responsible, having the recorded concerns and contact attempts will be valuable.
- Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like unpleasant vacationers bothering your peace. Employ the golden rule for best judgement. If they like you, locals might even recommend great beaches and scenic spots you would have not otherwise known!
- Don't forget to... Ask a local! Residents can frequently help. Who better to ask where to find the best seashells, have a great night out, or the best spots for BBQ?
- Upon check-out, take a walk-through to confirm you have not forget any personal items. Make sure to check bathrooms, dressers, and closets for hidden treasure. Clean the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Inspect the property a final time and scan for any damage. We recommend walking through with the property manager whenever you can (often this isn't possible). If the property manager isn't available, ensure that you take photos and video of the property to record its condition at check-out.
- Leave feedback! Property managers rely on good ratings to stimulate new reservations. They'll be grateful for your review. Alternatively, if something went wrong, other families will appreciate that you share your experience find their best vacation home. Remember to be objective. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the property manager could control the issue, and if so, whether they responded reasonably to solve it.
