Location, location, location – this quintessential Cape Hatteras beach home features a beachfront berth that simply can’t be beat. Grab a cup of coffee and watch the waves roll in each morning from your private, oceanfront deck – sunrises and sunsets are especially spectacular. You can watch the dolphins from the living room and admire amazing ocean vistas from the private hot tub.

When you're ready, head inside and wake up the rest of your group for breakfast. The well-equipped kitchen features all the appliances, gadgets, and counter space you need to whip up everything from quiche to oatmeal. When everybody’s ready to head out, it’s time for the beach, straight out the path you can see from your deck. And, with such a great location, you can pop back to the home for lunch or naps during the day. Or you can find great fishing steps away from the home. You’ve also got access to the Club Hatteras pool from mid-May to early October, weather dependent.

At the end of a day out, settle into the living room. Stream your favorite shows, take advantage of 40 streaming cable channels, or pop in a DVD to wind down. Or, head outside to your private hot tub. When it’s time to turn in, you’ll have four bedrooms to choose from. The main suite is upstairs and features a private deck, queen bed, and en suite bathroom. Downstairs you’ll find a queen bedroom and another bedroom with two twins. Note that there is an elevator that goes from the ground into the bedroom with two twins. With days at the beach, and nights calming on the deck or in the living room, the ideal vacation awaits you at Happiness on the Beach – all that’s left to do is book.

Located in Frisco, this vacation home is in a rural area and on the beach. The area's natural beauty can be seen at Outer Banks Beaches and Buxton Woods Coastal Preserve, while Frisco Native American Museum and Graveyard of the Atlantic Museum are cultural highlights. Frisco Mini Golf and Go Karts and Buxton Seafood are also worth visiting. Be sure to check out the area's animals with activities such as game walks and birdwatching.

Cost saving strategies:

  • In the Hatteras area, The earlier your group can book a vacation rental, the better your selection will be. The best vacation rentals are reserved early. Reserving your rental property six - twelve months before your vacation is recommended. Christmas, Thanksgiving and New Years Eve are excellent times to plan and reserve your vacation rental.
  • June, July, and August are high season in Frisco. To get the best vacation home within budget, we highly recommend booking in Fall or Spring months. You'll enjoy lower rental rates, better selection, beautiful weather and the absence of giant crowds at restaurants, beaches, and activities. Many vacationers use this strategy to reserve larger homes, or to reserve an oceanfront rental that would otherwise be unavailable during the Summer months.
  • Active Duty and veterans of the US Armed forces may be qualified for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property owner or host whether your vacationing group qualifies for a special promotion or discount.
  • Management companies and individual rental owners typically offer guests an option to buy trip insurance. Trip insurance, which will generally cost between 1% - 5% of the stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for any missed days as a result of personal medical-related issues or weather disasters, as well as evacuation costs, such as an unexpected hotel stay or extra fuel expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a bank account-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask your host for additional information.
  • Find a copy of your local Hatteras visitors guide magazine when you check-in. If your rental doesn't have one, you can find them at local shops and fuel stations. In addition to great local information, travel guides contain coupons for local accommodations and attractions.

  • Traveling with pets? Many vacation homes allow animals, but guidelines and restrictions apply. Allowable pet type, breed, and size are often limited. Make sure to ask before booking, and study your agreement thoroughly! Additional pet fees or costs applied to your agreement.
  • Are you visiting for a single attraction or event? If so, use a map search to locate nearby rentals.
  • Suitable accessibility can make or ruin a vacation for guests that require the use of a wheelchair. Make certain to ask about wheel chair accessibility, pool lifts and specialized equipment needs.

During your stay:

  • Get the owner's contact number and arrival/departure procedures for your rental property.
  • Property managers are available to help! Don't be shy to ask questions during your stay.
  • Ensure you protect the owner (and your stuff!) by keeping the rental locked up while you are gone, just like you would at home.
  • To make sure no damages are linked to your family's visit, inspect for any problem areas when you arrive. Call the host immediately to document your findings. If there is a dispute, having a record of issues and contact attempts will be valuable.
  • Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like troublesome visitors disrupting your home life. Practice the golden rule for common sense. If they like you, locals might even recommend great beaches and attractions you would have never otherwise known!
  • Don't forget to... Ask a local resident! Residents can typically point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to see a beautiful sunrise or sunset, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for fine dining?
  • On check-out day, take a final walk-through to confirm you did not forget any personal items. Re-check closets, dressers, garages, and bathrooms for hidden belongings. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
  • Record a video to document the condition of the property.
  • After your trip, leave feedback! Property owners rely on great ratings to drive future bookings. They'll be thankful for your feedback.
