Rental home tips:

When to go & When to reserve a Hatteras rental home:

  • The sooner you can book a rental home, the easier your search will be. The best vacation homes are booked very early. Reserving your vacation property six to twelve months before your vacation is recommended. Christmas, Thanksgiving and New Years Eve are excellent times to plan and reserve your rental property.
  • To find the best value, shift your vacation dates to the Spring or Fall shoulder seasons. May, September, and even October offer warm temperatures, fewer crowds, and reduced traffic. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook the holidays for a Hatteras vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday vacation on the coast? Thanksgiving and Christmas are great times to gather with family and friends at the beach.
  • Active Duty and veterans of the US Armed forces may be qualified for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property owner or host if your group qualifies for a price reduction or discount.
  • Booking websites typically offer customers an option to purchase vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which normally costs anywhere between 1% - 5% of the reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for missed vacation time as a result of medical-related emergencies or weather, as well as evacuation charges, such as an unexpected hotel overnight or extra gasoline expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a bank account-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask the property owner for specifics.
  • Find a copy of your local Hatteras visitors guide when you check-in. If your rental home doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local shops and fuel stations. In addition to great information, visitors guide magazines contain deals for local shops and restaurants.

Planning and picking the perfectrental:

  • Select a group lead, choose your vacation week, and choose a budget.
  • Note the number beds and the configuration you need. Surf Chalet w\/ hot tub and kayaks has 4 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our Hatteras rental home search.
  • Precise descriptions of bedrooms and bed counts is normally accessible on booking websites. If they are not listed, call the property manager before you reserve the rental. Note that most properties list maximum guest capacity, which often includes sofa beds in living rooms. You will need to work out what configuration is optimal for your trip.
  • If your family is traveling with pets, you'll need to search for a pet-friendly property. Request details on breed, weight, and type restrictions. Be aware that some property owners charge pet deposits and fees.
  • Visiting for a specific event or attraction? If so, use a map search to find nearby rentals.
  • Appropriate accessibility can make or break a vacation for those with limited mobility. Confirm all required amenities are available and included before reserving a rental.

More considerations for your visit:

  • Take a copy of the owner's phone number and arrival/departure procedures for your rental. Put the manager's information in your smartphone and wallet.
  • Hosts are available to help! Don't be shy to ask questions during your stay.
  • Keep the property locked while you're away! Don't let thieves ruin your trip.
  • To ensure that damages are not linked to your family's visit, make note of any problem areas when you arrive. Get in touch with the host immediately to record your findings. If there is a dispute, having the recorded problems and contact attempts will be valuable.
  • Respect your neighbors. Often, nearby homes are occupied by local residents. Respecting quiet hours and parking regulations reduces conflict and allows everyone to enjoy their day.
  • Don't forget to... Ask a local resident! Locals can often help you find exactly what you're looking for. Who better to ask where to launch your kayaks, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for BBQ?
  • Double-check the rental property to confirm that you've packed all of your belongings at departure. Re-check bathrooms, dressers, and closets for hidden belongings. Clean the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
  • Document the condition of the property at check-out. We recommend taking a video during your final walk-through.
  • Did your group have a terrific time? Many vacation rental websites make it easy for vacationers to provide comments. If your property and/or property manager was great, they would love to hear it. If anything was out of order and they failed to correct it in a reasonable manner, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make it a point as part of your comments.
