Awe-inspiring ocean vistas await at this beautiful, cedar-shingled oceanside bungalow in the Outer Banks. Open the blinds or the double doors while brewing a pot of coffee and take a seat in the rocking chair on your oceanfront deck to catch the sunrise with the sound of breaking waves and seagulls. If you’ve brought the family pup to this dog-friendly home, a walk on the beach might be in order followed by rinsing the sand from their paws using the outdoor shower. Head back inside as the rest of your group wakes up and starts preparing breakfast. You’ve got a full suite of appliances, ample counter space, and all the quality cookware and gadgets you need to make a fast breakfast or a full buffet. When it’s time to eat, grab a seat at one of the two dining tables or the breakfast bar inside, or slide those double doors open and sit on the upper deck with the salty breeze in your hair. Stow the dishes in the dishwasher and head out to discover the Outer Banks, or just make your way to the beach for a lazy day on the sand.

In the evening, the top floor offers a comfortable seating area, a enormous TV with cable, and ample space for everybody to relax, build a puzzle, or play one of the many games available. The lighted outdoor lower level offers an area for grilling, digging in the sand, playing corn hole, or having fun on the rope swing. On the first floor, you’ll find all four bedrooms. The main suite, the Captain’s Room, offers ocean vistas from your King bed, a TV, an en suite bathroom, and your own slider to the lower deck.

The second ocean view room, the Skipper’s Room, features a Queen bed, flatscreen TV, and en suite bathroom with your own deck access. Additionally, the other Skipper’s Room features a comfortable Queen with beach sandpiper decor. Lastly, the final bedroom, the Pirate’s Room, offers a pair of twin beds in a Pirate-themed bedroom with a flatscreen TV as well. As you settle in for the nighttime, end the day as you began, on either of your splendid decks, this time watching the stars rise over the ocean. Don’t stay up too late though - you don’t want to miss that sunrise.

Strategies to get the best Rodanthe rental home experience:

Sticking to your rental budget:

  • In the Hatteras area, The earlier you can book a rental home, the easier your search will be. The most desirable vacation homes are reserved very early. Reserving your rental home 6-12 months before your travel dates is recommended. Holiday gatherings are excellent times to plan and book your rental home.
  • Summertime is high season in the Hatteras area. To find the best value, try shifting your family's Hatteras trip dates to the Spring or Fall shoulder seasons. May, September, and even October offer great weather, , and greatly reduced traffic. Many vacationers use this method to reserve larger homes, or to reserve an oceanfront vacation rental that would otherwise be unavailable during the high season.
  • Veterans and Active Duty Military members may be qualified for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property manager or host if your vacationing group qualifies for a price reduction or discount.
  • Property managers typically offer guests an option to purchase trip insurance protection. Trip insurance, which will generally cost 1% - 5% of the base booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for missed trip time as a result of medical-related issues or weather disasters, as well as ensuing additional evacuation costs or charges, such as an unexpected hotel overnight or extra gas expenses. Trip insurance can be a a life-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask your host for details.
  • Look for your local visitors guide upon checking in. If your rental property doesn't have one, you can find them at local shops and fuel stations. In addition to great information, travel guides contain coupons for local tours, shops, and attractions.

Use filters to search efficiently:

  • Begin by selecting your vacation dates and a max budget.
  • Note the number bedrooms and the bed configuration you need. Dog-friendly oceanfront home with large deck, high-speed WiFi, washer\/dryer & AC has 4 bedrooms and 3 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our vacation rental search.
  • Precise details about bedrooms and bed counts is commonly accessible on booking pages. Otherwise, call the host before booking the property. Remember that most property listings specify maximum guest capacity, which typically includes pull out couches in living rooms. You will need to determine what configuration is best for your trip.
  • Do your family pets travel with you? Although a number of vacation homes allow pets or animals, guidelines and costs vary per property. Type of pet, size and breeds may be limited. Make sure to ask before booking, and study your agreement thoroughly! Pet fees or charges might be applied to your agreement.
  • Visiting for a specific event? If so, use a map search to find nearby properties.
  • Suitable accessibility can make or break a vacation for guests with disabilities. .

Additional considerations:

  • Be sure you get the host's phone number and check in/check out procedures for your rental. Store the manager's contact information in your smartphone and wallet.
  • Ask questions. You may want instructions for a hot tub, A/V setup or thermostat. Contact your owner. They are there to help! A brief text message prevents lots of difficulties.
  • Protect the property owner (and your stuff!) by keeping the rental locked up when you are gone, just like you would back home.
  • During check-in, make note of any issues with the property and immediately alert the host. Keep records of all coorespondence.
  • Respecting late-night quiet hours and parking restrictions can make a stay significantly more pleasurable. You'll increase your chance to make local friends, and resident neighbors are usually a terrific source for finding the best local spots.
  • Don't forget to... Ask a local resident! Locals can typically point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to order the best nachos, have a great night out, or the best spots for fishing?
  • Upon check-out, complete a final walk-through to make sure you didn't forget any personal items. Make sure to check dressers, closets, and bathrooms for hidden belongings. Clean out the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
  • Walk through the property a final time and keep an eye out for damages to contents or the property itself. We recommend walking through with the host whenever you can. If the host isn't available, remember to take photos of the property to record its condition.
  • Did you have a fantastic stay? Many vacation rental websites make it easy for clients to provide feedback. If your rental and/or property management company was fantastic, they will likely appreciate your kind words. If anything was imperfect and they failed to address it within reason, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make it a point as part of your comments.
