OCEANSIDE Salvo - Rampart St. You'll want to "STAY" at SURF DOGS, with a cavernous great room with cathedral ceilings, tile floor, and living area with enormous flat screen TV/DVD with surround sound. The handsome, modern kitchen has plenty of counter space for meal prep and laying out buffet meals. Sit at the breakfast bar or at the close by dining table. Sit back with a good book on the shaded first level deck or relax in the inviting hot tub after a day of playing in the waves. There are two bedrooms on the first level, including a king bedroom with roll-in shower, and two more queen bedrooms upstairs. A game room with pool table, foosball, and TV/DVD is located on the second level with view down to the great room, and access to the second level oceanside sundeck. The beach is just a short walk down a peaceful side street. Gather the family on Hatteras Island this year and don't forget to bring your SURF DOGS.

Finding the best value:

• Book your vacation rental as early as possible. Rental schedules generally become available 12 months in advance (or in September just after Summer ends). Many families book their Summer rentals during Winter holiday get-togethers. Book before these holidays for best selection.
• Summer months are the most expensive season in Salvo. Reserving a rental home in the Spring or Fall is an excellent way to save on your vacation home. Rates are lower, and you'll find a better selection of acceptable homes. Many vacationers use this method to find larger homes within budget, or to book an oceanfront rental that would otherwise be unavailable or unaffordable during the high season.
• Owners sometimes offer rate reductions for veterans and active duty military. Check with your host or property manager to see if special offers are available for your group before you book.
• Property management companies typically offer renters an option to obtain trip insurance. Trip insurance, which commonly will cost you between 1% - 5% of the base stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for any missed time as a result of personal medical-related emergencies or weather, as well as hurricane evacuation costs, such as an unexpected hotel stay or extra gasoline expenses. Trip insurance might be a a bank account-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask your property manager for more information.
• Often, rental management companies supply Hatteras area visitors guides which often include coupons, either offered independently by local companies, or through a relationship with the rental management company and the business itself. Note that most listings specify the maximum guest capacity, which oftentimes includes pull-out couches and bunk beds. You will need to determine what is suitable for your vacation.
• Some rental properties allow pets, but others do not. Allowable types of dog or cat, size and breeds may be restricted, and added fees may apply. Ask the owner about your furry family members before booking.
• Visiting for a single event or attraction? Use a map search to browse nearby rentals.
• Appropriate accessibility amenities can make or break a vacation for guests with disabilities. .

• Add the owner's information to your smartphone. Take a copy of check in/check out procedures.
• Hosts are there to help! Don't be shy to ask any questions during your stay.

If your rental property and/or property management company was wonderful, they would love to hear it.
