Tips to get the best rental home experience:

Sticking to a rental budget:

  • Summer months are high season in the Hatteras area. Reserve your rental in the Fall or Spring shoulder seasons to enjoy beautiful weather while saving money and avoiding crowds. Many vacationers use this strategy to find larger homes within budget, or to book a beach front rental that would otherwise be unaffordable during the Summer months.
  • The sooner you can reserve a home, the easier your search will be. The most desirable rental properties are reserved early. Reserving your rental up to twelve months before your vacation dates is recommended. Winter holidays are excellent times to plan and reserve your vacation home.
  • Some property management companies offer promotional rates for veterans. Check with your property manager to see if special offers are available for your group before you book.
  • Property managers usually offer guests an option to add trip insurance protection. Trip insurance, which normally will cost you anywhere between 1% - 5% of the stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for any missed trip time as a result of medical-related issues or weather, as well as hurricane evacuation costs, such as an unanticipated hotel overnight or extra gasoline expenses. Trip insurance might be a a welcome relief if the unforeseen happens. Ask your property manager for additional information.
  • Look for your local Hatteras visitors guide when you check-in. If your rental home doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local shops and visitor centers. In addition to great local stories, travel guide magazines contain discounts for nearby accommodations, restaurants and tours.

Planning and picking your Hatteras rental home:

  • Begin by choosing trip dates and a budget.
  • Decide how many beds and the bed configuration you need. Avon's Calling is Only 5 lots back from the beach in Avon! has 3 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms.
  • Specific details about bedrooms and bed types is almost always available on booking pages. If not, email the host before you book the vacation property. Remember that most property listings specify maximum guest capacity, which typically includes sofa beds in living rooms. You'll need to work out which bed configuration is suitable for your vacation.
  • Does your family require particular amenities? Most websites include amenity lists and search filters.
  • Suitable accessibility can make or ruin a vacation for persons with disabilities. Make certain to inquire about specialized equipment and wheel chair accessibility.
  • Some rental properties allow pets, but others don't. Allowable types of family pet, size and breeds may be restricted, and added charges may apply. Ask the property manager about allowable pet guidelines before booking.

Tips for a smooth stay:

  • Get the owner's contact number and entry/exit procedures for your . Store the host's information in your smartphone.
  • To make sure no damages are linked to your stay, note any problem areas during arrival. text the host right away to report any pre-existing damages. If there is a dispute, having a record of issues and contact attempts will be helpful.
  • Property managers are there to help! Feel free to ask questions before, during, or after your stay.
  • Respecting late-night quiet hours and parking restrictions can make a stay more pleasurable. Be a good neighbor. You will enhance your chance to make local friends, and resident neighbors are usually an excellent source for finding the best local beaches and restaurants.
  • Don't forget to... Ask a local resident! Neighbors can usually point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to charter a fishing boat, have a great night out, or the best spots for bird watching?
  • Lock your rental property while you are out! Don't let burglars spoil your holiday.
  • Re-check the rental property to make sure that you've packed all of your belongings at departure. Check garages, decks, and cabinets for hidden items. Clean the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
  • Walk through the property one final time and look for damage. We advise inspecting the property with the host whenever possible. If the host is not available, ensure that you take video of the rental to record its condition at check-out.
  • Did your group have a fantastic time? Many vacation rental websites make it easy for clients to provide reviews. If your rental property and/or host was great, they would love to hear about it. If anything was inoperable and they failed to correct it in a reasonable manner, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make a note as part of your feedback.
