How to find the best Hatteras rental home experience:

Get the best rental value:

  • June, July, and August are the most expensive months in coastal NC. Booking your Hatteras vacation home in the Fall or Spring shoulder seasons is our favorite way to save money on your vacation home. Rental rates are lower, and you'll find a better selection of acceptable homes. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook the holidays for a Hatteras vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday vacation on the coast? Thanksgiving and Christmas are great times to gather with friends and family at the beach.
  • In the Hatteras area, The earlier your group can book a rental home, the easier your search will be. The best rental homes are reserved early. Reserving your vacation property 6-12 months before your vacation dates is recommended. Christmas, Thanksgiving and New Years Eve are excellent times to plan and reserve your rental home.
  • Active Duty and veterans of the US Armed forces may qualify for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property manager or host whether your vacationing group qualifies for a price reduction.
  • Booking websites typically offer customers an option to add vacation insurance. Trip insurance, which will generally cost between 1% - 5% of the reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for any missed time as a result of personal medical-related emergencies or weather, as well as evacuation costs or charges, such as an unexpected hotel overnight or additional fuel expenses. Trip insurance can be a a welcome relief if the unforeseen happens. Ask your host for details.
  • Often, property management companies and vacation rental houses supply Hatteras area visitor guide magazines that include money-saving offers, either offered directly by local companies, or by way of a partnership between the property management company and the business itself. You can also find Hatteras area magazine and coupon books at local shops and grocery stores.

Finding the best vacation rental in the Hatteras area:

  • Begin by choosing your a vacation week and a maximum budget.
  • Determine how many bedrooms and the bed configuration your family requires. Perfect Spot-Oceanview, Hot Tub, Dog-Friendly, Short walk to Avon Pier has 3 bedrooms and 3 bathrooms.
  • Specific information about bedrooms and bed counts is regularly available online. Otherwise, email the property owner before you book the property. Remember that most property listings specify the maximum guest capacity, which frequently includes sofa beds and bunks.
  • Looking for particular amenities? Most rental search websites include amenity lists and search filters. Filtering by amenity will allow you to quickly find the perfect rental.
  • Suitable accessibility amenities can make or ruin a vacation for persons with disabilities. .
  • Traveling with pets? Many vacation homes allow animals, but guidelines and restrictions apply. Type of pet, size and breeds may be limited. Remember to ask the property manager before booking, and study your rental agreement! Additional fees or might be applied to your invoice.

More considerations for your visit:

  • Take a copy of the owner's phone number and check in/check out procedures for your .
  • To make sure damages are not linked to your family's stay, inspect the rental for any problem areas when you arrive. E-mail the host right away to document any issues. If there is a dispute about who is responsible, having a record of issues and contact attempts will be very helpful.
  • Hosts are available to help! Don't be shy to ask questions before, during, or after your stay.
  • Respecting late-night quiet hours and parking rules can make a stay significantly more pleasurable. You will magnify your chance to make local friends, and resident neighbors are often an incredible resource to find the best local beaches.
  • Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Neighbors can often help you find the best spots in town. Who better to ask where to charter a fishing boat, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for fishing?
  • Lock your rental property while you are away! Don't let burglars spoil your trip.
  • Don't leave anything behind! Before you drive away, take a walk through the rental to reconfirm you've collected all of your things. Make sure to check bathrooms, dressers, and closets for hidden belongings. Clean out the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
  • Inspect the rental one final time and scan for damages to contents or the property itself. We suggest walking through with the host whenever you can. If the manager is not available, take photos and video of the rental to record its condition.
  • Did your group have a terrific time? Most rental management companies make it easy for clients to provide comments. If your property and/or property management company was great, they will likely appreciate your kind words. If anything was amiss and they failed to correct it within reason, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make it a point as part of your comments.
