A trendy spot for wind/kitesurfing, kayaking, and SUPs on the sound side. The ocean side provides a amazing beach for kids (flat, gradual slope) and beachcombing. Strategies to get the perfect vacation rental experience:
Get the most from your rental home budget:
- To get the best value, consider shifting your group's trip dates to the Spring or Fall months. May, September, and October offer excellent weather, , and reduced traffic. Many vacationers use this method to reserve larger homes, or to book an oceanfront rental that would otherwise be unavailable during June, July, and August.
- Book your vacation rental as soon as possible. Rental schedules generally become available 12 months in advance (or in September just after Summertime ends). Many groups reserve their Summer vacation rentals during Winter holiday gatherings. Reserve before these holidays for best selection.
- Active Duty and veterans of the US Armed forces may qualify for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property owner or host if your group qualifies for a special rate.
- Property managers usually offer guests an option to buy vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which costs 1% - 5% of the stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for any missed days as a result of personal medical-related catastrophes or weather, as well as hurricane evacuation costs or charges, such as an unexpected hotel stay or extra fuel expenses. Trip insurance might be a a welcome relief if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your host for additional information.
- Often, management companies and vacation rental houses supply Hatteras area visitors guides which often include special deals, either offered independently by local companies, or through a partnership between the property management company and the business itself. You can also find Hatteras visitors guide magazine and coupon books at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers.
Selecting and booking your prefectrental:
- First, have your family choose a vacation week and a budget.
- Note the number bedrooms and the configuration your family needs. New Construction! Short walk to beach AND sound! has 2 bedrooms and 1 bathrooms.
- Specific details about bedrooms and bed types is almost always available on booking websites. If you don't see them listed, email the property owner before reserving your rental. Remember that most properties list maximum guest capacity, which oftentimes includes sofa beds in living rooms. You will need to determine what configuration is best for your family.
- If there's a specific Hatteras attraction you are crazy about, search for rentals that are either nearby, or those that cater especially to your desires.
- Proper accessibility amenities can make or break a vacation for those with limited mobility. Confirm all required amenities are available and included before reserving a rental.
- Do your family pets travel with you? Although a number of vacation homes allow pets or animals, guidelines and costs vary per property. Allowable pet type, breed, and size are often limited. Make sure to ask before booking, and study your agreement thoroughly! Extra fees or might be applied to your agreement.
During your stay:
- Be sure you get the host's contact number and entry/exit procedures for your rental home.
- To make certain damages aren't linked to your family's stay, record any problem areas during arrival. Contact the property manager immediately to report any damages. If there is a dispute about legal responsibility later, having a record of concerns and contact attempts will be useful.
- Ask questions. You may want instructions for a garage door opener, A/V setup or WIFI setup. Contact your owner. They are there to help! A brief call prevents quite a few concerns.
- Respecting late-night quiet hours and parking regulations can make a stay more pleasurable. Be a good neighbor. You'll magnify your chance to make some new local friends, and resident neighbors are often an excellent resource to find the best local beaches.
- Don't forget to... Ask a local! Locals can usually help. Who better to ask where to launch your kayaks, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for bird watching?
- Lock your rental property while you are gone! Don't let thieves spoil your trip.
- Double-check every room of the rental property to make sure that you've packed all belongings on check-out day. Remember to check closets, dressers, garages, and bathrooms for hidden belongings. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Please make sure to walk through the property a final time and keep an eye out for any damage. We advise inspecting the property with the host whenever you can. If the manager isn't available, remember to take photos of the property to record its condition.
- Remember to leave feedback! Property managers rely on good feedback to compel future reservations. They'll be thankful for your feedback. Alternatively, if something wasn't as described, other families will will be grateful for your feedback find their best vacation rental. Please be fair with your feedback If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the manager had any control over the issue, and if so, whether they responded expeditiously to remedy it.
