Our top Rental property booking tips:
When to visit & When to book:
- Reserve your vacation home as soon as possible. Rental schedules often become available 12 months in advance (or in September just after the Summer season ends). Many families book their Summer rental homes during Christmas and Thanksgiving get-togethers. Reserve before these holidays for best selection.
- Summer time is high season in the Hatteras area. To get the best value, change your group's vacation week to the Spring or Fall seasons. May, September, and October offer great weather, less crowded beaches, and greatly reduced traffic.
- Veterans and Active Duty Military members may be qualified for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective vacation rental company or host whether your vacationing group qualifies for a reduced rate.
- Management companies and individual rental owners usually offer their guests an option to buy vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which costs anywhere between 1% - 5% of the booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for missed time as a result of personal medical-related issues or weather, as well as ensuing additional evacuation costs or charges, such as an unanticipated hotel overnight or extra gasoline expenses. Trip insurance might be a a bank account-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your property manager for details.
- Many rental management companies supply Hatteras area visitors guides which will include money-saving deals, either offered independently by local companies, or by way of a relationship with the property management company and the business itself. You can also find Hatteras visitors guide and coupon books at local shops and grocery stores.
Narrow your rental Search:
- Choose your vacation week and max budget.
- Decide how many bedrooms and the configuration your family requires. Budget Modern 1 BRM\/1 bath has 1 bedrooms and 1 bathrooms.
- Specific information regarding bedrooms and bed sizes & counts is commonly available on booking websites. If you don't see them listed, contact the property manager before you book the vacation property. Note that most properties list the maximum guest capacity, which frequently includes pull-out couches.
- Some properties allow pets, but some do not. Acceptable types of dog or cat, weight and breeds may be restricted, and added charges may apply. Ask the host about allowable breeds and types before booking.
- Does your group require particular amenities? Most rental websites include search filters with amenity lists.
- Suitable accessibility can make or ruin a vacation for persons with a disability. Confirm all necessary amenities are available and included before booking
More considerations for your visit:
- Review arrival and departure procedures before leaving home. Take a printed copy, and save the directions to your smartphone.
- Ask questions. You may need instructions for a hot tub, intercom or washer/dryer. Contact your owner. They are there to help! A brief call prevents a lot of difficulties.
- Lock your rental while you are out and about. Protect your property!
- During arrival, make note of any issues with the rental property and immediately alert the property manager. Keep records of all correspondence just in case a dispute arises.
- Respecting late-night quiet hours and parking policies can make a stay more pleasurable. Be a good neighbor. You'll increase your chance to make some new local friends, and resident neighbors can be a fantastic resource to find the best local restaurants, beaches, and hangouts.
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Local residents can often help you find exactly what you're looking for. Who better to ask where to enjoy a steak with a view, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for BBQ?
- At departure, take a walk-through to make sure you didn't leave anything behind. Make sure to check bathrooms, garages, and back yards for hidden items. Clean the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Record a video to document the condition of the property.
- Leave feedback! Property owners rely on good ratings to stimulate more reservations. They'll be much obliged for your feedback. Alternatively, if something went wrong, other vacationing families will will be grateful for your feedback find their best rental home. Be fair with your review. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the host had any control over the issue, and if so, whether they responded reasonably to fix it.
