How to book the best Hatteras rental experience:

When to go & When to book:

  • Summertime is the most expensive season in Hatteras. To book the most suitable rental home within your budget, we strongly suggest booking in the Fall or Spring. You'll benefit from lower rental rates, better selection, gorgeous weather and the absence of giant crowds at popular Hatteras attractions and restaurants. Many vacationers use this method to find larger homes within budget, or to book a beach front rental that would otherwise be unavailable during the high season.
  • Book your vacation rental as early as possible. Rental schedules often become available a year in advance (or in September just after Summer ends). Many groups book their Summer vacation rentals during Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years Eve get-togethers. Book before these holidays for best selection.
  • Veterans and Active Duty Military members may be qualified for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property manager or host whether your group qualifies for a price reduction.
  • Property management companies typically offer their guests an option to purchase vacation insurance. Trip insurance, which will generally cost between 1% - 5% of the stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for missed trip time as a result of medical-related emergencies or weather disasters, as well as ensuing additional evacuation charges, such as an unexpected hotel overnight or additional fuel expenses. Trip insurance might be a a bank account-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your host for program terms and fees.
  • Find a copy of your local visitors guide when you check-in. If your rental home doesn't have one, you can find them at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers. In addition to great articles, travel guide magazines have coupons for nearby attractions, tours, restaurants, and shops.

Choosing and booking the best Hatteras rental:

  • To start, have your group choose a vacation week and a max budget.
  • Note the number bedrooms and the configuration you need. Charming Studio w\/ Free WiFi, Kitchenette, & an Ocean View from the Rooftop Deck has 1 bedrooms and 1 bathrooms.
  • Precise information regarding bedrooms and bed sizes & counts is regularly available on booking pages. If they are not listed, email or call the host before you reserve the property. Note that most property listings specify the max. guest capacity, which oftentimes includes sofa beds and bunks. You will need to determine which bed configuration is best for your trip.
  • Are you visiting for a specific attraction? Use a map search to find nearby rentals.
  • Proper accessibility can make or ruin a vacation for persons with disabilities. Confirm all necessary amenities are available before reserving a rental
  • Some properties allow pets, but some don't. Acceptable types of dog or cat, weight and breeds may be restricted, and additional costs may apply. Ask the property manager about pets before booking.

More tips for your visit:

  • We recommend storing the manager's information in your smartphone.
  • To make sure damages are not linked to your visit, inspect the rental for any problem areas during arrival. Get in touch with the rental manager immediately to relay any pre-existing damages. If there is a dispute about who is responsible, having the recorded issues and contact attempts will be valuable.
  • Ask questions. You may want instructions for a garage door opener, elevator or appliance. Contact your host. They are there to help! A brief call prevents many issues.
  • Respecting quiet hours and parking regulations can make a stay significantly more pleasurable. You will magnify your chance to make some new local friends, and resident neighbors can be a terrific source for finding the best local spots.
  • Don't forget to... Ask a local! Residents can usually help you find the best spots in town. Who better to ask where to take kids for a treat, have a great night out, or the best spots for BBQ?
  • Keep your rental home locked while you're gone! Don't let crooks ruin your family vacation.
  • Upon check-out, complete a walk-through to confirm you did not leave anything behind. Make sure to check bathrooms, garages, and back yards for hidden items. Clean the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
  • Inspect the rental a final time and look for any damage. We recommend walking through with the property manager whenever you can. If the property manager isn't available, take photos of the property to record its condition at check-out.
  • Remember to leave feedback! Property owners rely on good ratings to drive new reservations. They'll be much obliged for your review. Alternatively, if something went awry, other vacationing families will appreciate that you share your review and help them have the best future vacation. Please be fair with your feedback If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the property manager could control the issue, and if so, whether they responded quickly to remedy it.
