Short walk to the beach, local deli, ice cream shop, nail/hair salon, jewelry store, and a convenient sidewalk to take in the whole village. Golf carts are available to rent in the village (message us for information about how to pre-book) and make getting to our local grocery store and fresh seafood eateries a breeze. Savor watching the boats come in with their fresh catch of the day. At the end of the day, prop up your feet with your drink of choice and listen to the waves crash on the beach while the sun sets over the sound side.
The apartment has two bedrooms, one bathroom, full kitchen, dining area and living area. One flight of interior stairs opens to a cozy reading nook. Upon entering the apartment you’ll see a living area with couch and two chairs, dining table with room for four, kitchen with sizable island/bar, and access to a private deck. Bathroom with shower is accessible off the hallway, and the two comfortable bedrooms are at the end of the hall. You can hear the ocean from the deck.
Southside 3 is your host, Wendy’s, mother’s former apartment. Edith Stowe was an involved member of our community, and appreciated the village where she was born, raised, lived, and raised her kids. She was a painter and her favorite color was the blue green that you’ll see throughout the space. We have kept a few of her touches, including her paintings. We hope you’ll feel at home and appreciate our casual way of life and southern hospitality.
Your hosts live on the same property but in a separate building. We pride ourselves on being extremely responsive to your questions and/or concerns.

Tips and Tricks to get the perfect Hatteras vacation rental experience:
When to visit & When to book:
- Summertime is high season in Hatteras. To find the most suitable rental within budget, we highly recommend booking in the Fall or Spring shoulder seasons. You'll enjoy lower rental rates, greater selection, beautiful weather and the absence of giant crowds at your favorite Hatteras restaurants and activities. Many vacationers use this method to find larger homes within budget, or to reserve a beach front rental that would otherwise be unaffordable during the high season.
- Book your rental as soon as possible. Rental schedules usually become available 12 months in advance (or in September just after Summer ends). Many families book their Summer vacation rentals during Christmas and Thanksgiving gatherings. Reserve before these holidays for best selection.
- Some owners offer promotional rates for active duty military and veterans. Ask your host or property manager if special discounts are available for your group before you book.
- Booking websites typically offer their guests an option to obtain vacation insurance. Trip insurance, which will generally cost anywhere between 1% - 5% of the stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for any missed time as a result of personal medical-related issues or weather disasters, as well as evacuation charges, such as an unanticipated hotel overnight or additional gasoline expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a bank account-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask the property owner for specifics.
- Find a copy of your local Hatteras visitors guide upon arrival. If your rental property doesn't have one, you can find them at local shops and visitor centers. In addition to great information, travel guide magazines have offers and deals for nearby attractions, tours, restaurants, and shops.
Use filters to narrow your search:
- Select a group leader, choose your trip dates, and select a max budget.
- Determine how many beds and the bed configuration your family requires. Hatteras Village *** Southside 3 *** has 2 bedrooms and 1 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our vacation rental search.
- Specific information regarding bedrooms and bed counts is almost always available on booking websites. If not, email the property management company before reserving your home. Note that most listings specify the maximum guest capacity, which typically includes sofa beds. You'll need to determine what configuration is optimal for your family.
- Are you looking for particular amenities? Most rental search websites include amenity lists and search filters. Filtering by amenity will allow you to quickly find the perfect rental home.
- Proper accessibility can make or ruin a vacation for persons with disabilities. Make certain to inquire about specialized equipment and wheel chair accessibility.
- Are you traveling with furry, four-legged family members? Although a number of vacation homes allow pets or animals, guidelines and costs vary per property. Allowable pet type, breed, and size are often limited. Make sure to ask before booking, and study your agreement thoroughly! Pet fees or applied to your invoice.
Advice for a smooth stay:
- Review check in & check out procedures before leaving home. Take a printed copy, and add a note with the directions to your smartphone.
- During arrival, make note of any damages to the property and immediately alert the host. Keep records of all coorespondence.
- Property managers are great sources of help! Don't be shy to ask any questions during your stay.
- Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like disrespectful vacationers disrupting your quiet neighborhood. Employ the golden rule for common sense. Happy residents may even recommend great restaurants and places you would have not otherwise known about!
- Don't forget to... Ask a local resident! Residents can often help you find exactly what you're looking for. Who better to ask where to take kids for a treat, have a great night out, or the best spots for BBQ?
- Lock your rental while you're out and about. Keep your property safe!
- When it's time to leave, complete a walk-through to make sure you didn't forget any personal items. Check dressers, closets, and bathrooms for hidden treasure. Clean out the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Record a video to document the condition of the property.
- Did your group have a fantastic time? Many rental management companies make it easy for guests to provide comments. If your property and/or host was fantastic, they always love to hear your praise. If anything was defective and they failed to address it reasonably, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make it a point as part of your feedback.
