Short walk to the beach, local deli, ice cream shop, nail/hair salon, jewelry store, and a convenient sidewalk to take in the whole village. Golf carts are available to rent in the village (message us for information about how to pre-book) and make getting to our local grocery store and fresh seafood eateries a breeze. Appreciate watching the boats come in with their fresh catch of the day. At the end of the day, prop up your feet with your drink of choice and listen to the waves crash on the beach while the sun sets over the sound side.
The apartment has two bedrooms, one bathroom, full kitchen, dining area and living area. One flight of interior stairs opens to a cozy reading nook. Upon entering the apartment you’ll see a living area with couch and two chairs, dining table with room for four, kitchen with enormous island/bar, and access to a private deck. Bathroom with shower is accessible off the hallway, and the two comfortable bedrooms are at the end of the hall. You can hear the ocean from the deck.
Southside 3 is your host, Wendy’s, mother’s former apartment. Edith Stowe was an involved member of our community, and adored the village where she was born, raised, lived, and raised her kids. She was a painter and her favorite color was the blue green that you’ll see throughout the space. We have kept a few of her touches, including her paintings. We hope you’ll feel at home and savor our casual way of life and southern hospitality.
Your hosts live on the same property but in a separate building. We pride ourselves on being extremely responsive to your questions and/or concerns.

How to book the best rental home experience:
When to visit & When to book:
- Reserve your vacation rental as soon as possible. Rental schedules usually become available a year in advance (or in September just after the Summer season ends). Many groups reserve their Summer vacations during Thanksgiving and Christmas get-togethers. Book before these holidays for best selection.
- Summertime is high season in the Hatteras area. Book your Hatteras rental home in the Fall or Spring to enjoy beautiful weather while saving money and avoiding crowded roads, restaurants, and activities. Many vacationers use this strategy to find larger homes within budget, or to reserve an oceanfront vacation rental that would otherwise be unavailable during the Summer months. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook Winter holidays for a Hatteras vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday near the ocean? Thanksgiving and Christmas are great times to gather with friends and family at your favorite beach.
- Veterans and Active Duty Military members may qualify for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property owner whether your vacationing group qualifies for a special rate.
- Booking websites frequently offer renters an option to add vacation insurance. Trip insurance, which normally will cost you 1% - 5% of the base reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for any missed vacation time as a result of personal medical-related emergencies or weather disasters, as well as evacuation charges, such as an unanticipated hotel or additional gasoline expenses. Trip insurance can be a a life-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask the property owner for details.
- Find a copy of your local Hatteras visitors guide magazine upon checking in. If your rental doesn't have one, you can find them at local shops and visitor centers. In addition to great information, travel guides have offers and deals for nearby accommodations, restaurants and tours.
How to pick the best vacation rental in the Hatteras area:
- Select a designated group leader, choose your vacation dates, and select a maximum budget.
- Note the number beds and what type of bedroom configuration your family requires. Hatteras Village *** Southside 3 *** has 2 bedrooms and 1 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our Hatteras rental home search.
- Precise details about bedrooms and bed types is normally accessible on booking websites. If you don't see them listed, reach out to the host before you book the property. Note that most listings specify maximum guest capacity, which oftentimes includes pull out couches in living rooms. You will need to determine what bed configuration is right for your vacation family.
- Remember to include your furry companions! Although a number of vacation homes allow pets or animals, guidelines and costs vary per property. Type of pet, size and breeds may be limited. Ask your host before booking, and study your agreement! Pet fees or may be applied to your agreement.
- If there's an individual Hatteras beach you are enamored with, browse rentals that are either close by, or those that cater especially to your requirements.
- Suitable accessibility can make or ruin a vacation for guests that require the use of a wheelchair. Confirm all required amenities are available before booking
Tips for your stay:
- Add the property manager's phone number to your smartphone. Print and take a copy of arrival/departure procedures.
- Hosts are available to help! Don't be shy to ask any questions before, during, or after your stay.
- Lock your rental while you are away. Protect your property!
- During arrival, make note of any damages to the rental property and immediately contact the property manager. Record all correspondence just in case a dispute arises.
- Be a good neighbor. Frequently, surrounding homes are occupied by local residents. Respecting quiet hours and parking rules can make a stay significantly more pleasurable.
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local! Residents can frequently point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to order delicious takeout, have a great night out, or the best spots for crabbing?
- Upon check-out, take a walk-through to make sure you didn't forget anything. Remember to check garages, decks, and cabinets for hidden belongings. Clean out the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Walk through the rental one final time and look for damages to contents or the property itself. We recommend inspecting the property with the host whenever you can. If the host is not available, remember to take photos of the property to record its condition.
- Leave feedback! Hosts rely on good reviews to drive more reservations. They'll be grateful for your feedback. Alternatively, if something went wrong, other vacationing families will appreciate that you share your review find their best vacation rental. Be fair with your review. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the property manager had any control over the issue, and if so, whether they responded quickly to fix it.
