Strategies to get the best rental experience:
When to book & When to go:
- Summer months are the most expensive season along the coast of NC. To find the best value, consider shifting your group's vacation to the Spring or Fall seasons. May, September, and even October offer great temperatures, fewer crowds, and reduced traffic.
- Book your rental as early as possible. Rental schedules usually open twelve months in advance (or in September just after Summer ends). Many families reserve their Summer rental homes during Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years Eve gatherings. Reserve before these holidays for best selection.
- Veterans and Active Duty Military members may be qualified for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property manager or host whether your family qualifies for a price reduction.
- Management companies and individual rental owners frequently offer customers an option to obtain vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which usually will cost anywhere between 1% - 5% of the base booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for any days missed as a result of personal medical-related catastrophes or weather disasters, as well as ensuing additional evacuation charges, such as an unanticipated hotel or additional fuel expenses. Trip insurance might be a a life-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your host for more information.
- Often, property management companies supply Hatteras area travel guides which will include special deals, either offered directly by local businesses, or through a relationship between the property management company and the business itself. You can also find Hatteras visitors guide and coupon books at local gas stations and shopping centers.
Choosing and booking a perfect Hatteras vacation home:
- First and foremost, have your family choose dates and a spending budget.
- Note the number bedrooms and what type of bedroom configuration your group needs. Foster Your Dreams Rodanthe Ocean & Sound Views, Pool, Hot Tub, Game Room has 5 bedrooms and 7 bathrooms.
- Precise descriptions of bedrooms and bed sizes & counts is regularly available on booking pages. If not, call the host before you book the vacation property. Note that most properties list the max. guest capacity, which often includes pull-out couches. You will need to determine what configuration is best for your vacation group.
- Are you looking for specific amenities? Most websites include search filters for amenities. Use these filters to your advantage to find the perfect rental home.
- Proper accessibility can make or break a vacation for guests with disabilities. Confirm all necessary amenities are available before booking
- Remember to include your furry companions! Although a number of vacation homes allow pets or animals, guidelines and costs vary per property. Allowable pet type, breed, and size are often limited. Make sure to ask before booking, and study your agreement thoroughly! Additional pet fees or costs could be applied to your contract.
More tips for your stay:
- Be sure you get the owner's phone number and arrival/departure procedures for your rental property.
- To ensure that damages aren't linked to your stay, inspect for any problem areas upon your arrival. Contact the host right away to relay your findings. If there is a dispute, having the recorded issues and contact attempts will be useful.
- Ask questions. You may need instructions for a hot tub, intercom or coffee maker. Contact your property manager. They are there to help! A brief phone call prevents lots of concerns.
- Respecting late-night quiet hours and parking regulations can make a stay significantly more pleasurable. Be a good neighbor. You will enhance your chance to make local friends, and resident neighbors are an excellent resource to find the best local attractions.
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Neighbors can often help. Who better to ask where to launch your kayaks, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for fine dining?
- Protect the owner (and your things!) by keeping the rental locked up when you are out, just like you would back home.
- Don't leave anything behind! Just before departing, take a walk through the rental property to confirm you've collected all belongings. Check dressers, closets, and bathrooms for hidden belongings. Clean out the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Please make sure to walk through the rental a final time and look for any damage. We suggest inspecting the property with the host whenever you can. If the host isn't available, ensure that you take photos of the rental to record its condition at check-out.
- Remember to leave a review! Property managers rely on good reviews to propel more bookings. They'll be much obliged for your feedback. Alternatively, if something went awry, other families will be thankful you shared your experience find their best vacation rental. Remember to be objective. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the owner could control the issue, and if so, whether they responded reasonably to fix it.
