When to reserve a Hatteras rental home & When to go:

  • The earlier your group can book a vacation rental, the easier your search will be. The best rental homes are reserved early. Booking your vacation home 6-12 months before your vacation is recommended. Holidays such as Christmas and Thanksgiving are excellent times to search for and reserve your rental home.
  • To find the best vacation home for your budget, we strongly suggest booking in the Fall or Spring shoulder seasons. You'll enjoy lower rental rates, better selection, beautiful weather and the absence of giant crowds at Hatteras restaurants, beaches, and activities.
  • Veterans and Active Duty Military members may qualify for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property manager whether your vacationing group qualifies for a reduced rate.
  • Management companies and individual rental owners often offer renters an option to obtain vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which normally costs anywhere between 1% - 5% of the booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for any days missed as a result of medical-related catastrophes or weather disasters, as well as evacuation costs, such as an unexpected hotel overnight or additional gas expenses. Trip insurance can be a a life-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask your property manager for details.

  • If your group is traveling with pets, you must reserve a pet-friendly rental. Ask for specifics on breed, weight, and type requirements. Usually, property owners require additional pet deposits and fees.
  • If there's a specific Hatteras beach you are crazy about, look for rentals that are either close by, or those that cater to your needs.
