Getting the best Hatteras rental home experience:
Sticking to your rental home budget:
- The earlier you can reserve a vacation home, the easier your search will be. The best rental properties are reserved early. Booking your rental up to 12 months before your travel dates is recommended. Holidays such as Christmas and Thanksgiving are excellent times to search for and book your rental property.
- June, July, and August are the most expensive months in the Hatteras area. Book your Hatteras vacation in Fall or Spring to get the benefit of beautiful weather while saving money and avoiding crowded roads, restaurants, and activities.
- Hosts sometimes offer promotional rates for veterans and active duty military. It's always a good idea to check with your property manager to see if special discounts are available for your family before you book.
- Property management companies frequently offer their guests an option to add trip insurance. Trip insurance, which normally will cost you anywhere between 1% - 5% of the base reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for any missed vacation time as a result of personal medical-related catastrophes or weather disasters, as well as ensuing additional evacuation charges, such as an unanticipated hotel or extra fuel expenses. Trip insurance can be a a bank account-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask your host for more information.
- Look for your local Hatteras visitors guide when you arrive at the rental property. If your rental property doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local grocery stores and visitor centers. In addition to great articles, visitors guide magazines contain money saving offers on nearby accommodations, tours and attractions.
Selecting the best vacation home:
- Choose vacation dates and spending budget.
- Decide how many beds and the bed configuration your group requires. Dog-friendly home near the beach near beach access, outdoor shower, deck has 3 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms.
- Specific descriptions of bedrooms and bed counts & types is normally accessible online. If not, email the property management company before you book the vacation home. Remember that most property listings specify the max. guest capacity, which typically includes sofa beds. You'll need to work out what bed configuration is best for your trip.
- If your family is traveling with pets, you must book a property that allows animals. Get specifics on breed, weight, and type restrictions. Usually, property managers charge additional pet fees.
- Does your family require special amenities? Most rental search websites include search filters for amenities. Use these to your advantage to find the perfect rental home.
- Appropriate accessibility can make or break a vacation for persons with disabilities. Confirm all necessary amenities are available and included before booking.
During your stay:
- Get the owner's contact number and check in/check out procedures for your . Store the manager's contact information in your smartphone.
- Property managers are great sources of help! Feel free to ask any questions during your stay.
- Lock your rental home while you're out and about. Keep your property safe!
- To make certain damages are not attributed to your visit, make a record of any problem areas during arrival. message the host immediately to document any pre-existing damages. If there is a dispute, having the recorded concerns and contact attempts will be useful.
- Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like loud visitors disrupting your peace and quiet. Employ the golden rule for best judgement. Happy residents may even recommend great restaurants and scenic spots you would've never otherwise known!
- Don't forget to... Ask a local! Residents can usually point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to find the fresh catch of the day, have a great night out, or the best spots for fishing?
- Re-check the vacation property to confirm that you've packed all of your belongings on check-out day. Check bathrooms, garages, and back yards for hidden belongings. Clean the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Go through the rental a final time and scan for damages to contents or the property itself. We suggest inspecting the property with the host whenever possible. If the manager is not available, take video and pictures of the property to record its condition.
- Did you have a terrific vacation? Most rental management companies make it easy for clients to provide reviews. If your rental and/or property management company was great, they would love to hear about it. If anything was wrong and they failed to address it in a reasonable manner, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make a note as part of your review.
