Tips and Tricks to get the best Hatteras rental experience:

Find your perfect rental:

  • June, July, and August are high season in Hatteras. To find the most suitable vacation home within your budget, we suggest booking in the Fall or Spring. You'll enjoy lower rental rates, greater selection, warm weather and the absence of large crowds at your favorite Hatteras restaurants and activities. Many vacationers use this strategy to reserve larger homes, or to book a beach front vacation rental that would otherwise be unavailable during June, July, and August. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook the holidays for a Hatteras vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday on the coast? Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years are great times to gather with loved ones at the beach.
  • Reserve your rental as early as possible. Rental schedules often become available twelve months in advance (or in September just after the Summer season ends). Many families book their Summer rental homes during holiday get-togethers. Book before these holidays for best selection.
  • Property management companies sometimes offer rate reductions for active duty military and veterans. Check with your property manager to see if special discounts are available for your family.
  • Property management companies frequently offer guests an option to obtain vacation insurance. Trip insurance, which commonly costs between 1% - 5% of the base booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for missed trip time as a result of personal medical-related emergencies or weather disasters, as well as ensuing additional evacuation costs or charges, such as an unanticipated hotel stay or additional gas expenses. Trip insurance can be a a welcome relief if the unforeseen happens. Ask your host for additional information.
  • Many rental management companies supply Hatteras area visitor guides that include money-saving offers, either offered directly by local businesses, or through a relationship with the management company and the business itself. You can also find Hatteras visitors guide magazine and coupon books at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers.

Choosing the best rental:

  • Select a group leader, select your trip dates, and choose a spending budget.
  • Note the number beds and what type of bedroom configuration your family requires. Charming oceanside beach cottage - short walk to private beach access & marinas has 3 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms.
  • Specific information regarding bedrooms and bed counts is commonly accessible on booking websites. If they are not listed, call the host before reserving your rental. Remember that most listings specify the max. guest capacity, which oftentimes includes sofa beds in living rooms. You will need to work out what bed configuration is right for your vacation group.
  • If there's an individual Hatteras beach you simply love, look for homes that are either nearby, or those that cater especially to your desires.
  • Proper accessibility amenities can make or ruin a vacation for the less-mobile. Make certain to inquire about wheel chair entry, pool lifts and specialized equipment needs.
  • Some rental properties allow pets, and others don't. Acceptable types of family pet, weight and breeds may be restricted, and added costs may apply. Ask the property management company about pets before booking.

More considerations for your visit:

  • Take a copy of the property manager's phone number and arrival/departure procedures for your .
  • To make certain that no damages are attributed to your family's stay, make note of any problem areas when you arrive. text the rental manager right away to report any issues. If there is a dispute about legal responsibility later, having the recorded concerns and contact attempts will be useful.
  • Ask questions. You may want instructions for a hot tub, intercom or appliance. Contact your host. They are there to help! A brief phone call can prevent quite a few concerns.
  • Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like loud visitors disrupting your life at home. Use the golden rule for common sense. If they like you, locals might even recommend great beaches and attractions you would have not otherwise known!
  • Don't forget to... Ask a local! Local residents can frequently help you find the best spots in town. Who better to ask where to grab the best tacos, have a great night out, or the best spots for bird watching?
  • Keep the property locked while you're away! Don't let thieves spoil your trip.
  • Just before checking out, take a final walk-through to confirm you didn't leave anything behind. Remember to check bathrooms, garages, and back yards for hidden belongings. Clean the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
  • Walk through the property one final time and look for any damage. We recommend walking through with the property manager whenever you can. If the property manager isn't available, take photos and video of the rental to record its condition at check-out.
  • Remember to leave feedback! Property managers rely on great feedback to propel more reservations. They'll be grateful for your feedback. Alternatively, if something wasn't as described, other families will appreciate that you share your experience find their best vacation home. Please be objective. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the manager had any control over the issue, and if so, whether they responded quickly to solve it.
