OCEANSIDE Salvo - Colony Drive - FLIPPIN' SWEET is just six tons from the ocean. A crow's nest deck offers handsome vistas of the sound and is a impressive place to sit and appreciate the sunset. The uncovered decks are on the south-southwest corner for max. sun, and the screened porch has rocking chairs for spending an old-fashioned evening on the porch. The home is bright and comfortable with an open great room, kitchen and dining area. Two bedrooms (queen, pyramid bunk and single) share a hall bath, and the master bedroom has a queen bed, TV and private bath. It's so invigorating that you'll want to come back year after year!

  • The earlier you can reserve a vacation rental, the easier your search will be. The most desirable rental homes are reserved very early. Booking your vacation property up to 12 months before your travel dates is recommended. Holiday gatherings are excellent times to search for and reserve your vacation rental.
  • June, July, and August are high season in the Hatteras area. Booking your vacation rental in Fall or Spring months is one of our best tips for saving money on your vacation home. Rental rates are lower, and you'll find a better selection of desirable homes. Many vacationers use this strategy to find larger homes within budget, or to reserve a beach front rental that would otherwise be unavailable or unaffordable during the Summer months. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook Winter holidays for a Hatteras vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday vacation on the coast? Thanksgiving and Christmas are great times to gather with loved ones at the beach.
  • Owners sometimes offer discounts for veterans. Make sure to check with your property manager to see if discounts are available for your family before you book.
  • Management companies and individual rental owners often offer customers an option to add trip insurance. Trip insurance, which usually will cost between 1% - 5% of the base booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for any days missed as a result of medical-related issues or weather disasters, as well as ensuing additional evacuation costs, such as an unexpected hotel or extra gas expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a life-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask the property owner for more information.
  • Find a copy of your local Hatteras visitors guide when you check-in. If your rental property doesn't have one, you can find them at local shops and visitor centers. In addition to great local stories, travel guide magazines have coupons for nearby shops and restaurants.

  • Specific information about bedrooms and bed types is almost always available online. If you don't see them listed, email or call the host before you reserve your rental. Note that most listings specify the max. guest capacity, which typically includes sofa beds in living rooms.
  • If your group is vacationing with pets, search for a pet-friendly property. Make sure to ask for information on breed, size, and type restrictions. Note that some hosts charge pet deposits and fees.
  • Are you visiting for a single attraction? Use a map search to locate nearby rentals.
  • Proper accessibility amenities can make or ruin a vacation for persons with a disability. Confirm all necessary amenities are available before reserving a rental

  • Store the owner's information in your smartphone and wallet.
  • Property managers are there to help! Don't be shy to ask any questions before, during, or after your stay.
  • Protect the rental owner (and your stuff!) by locking the rental while you are away, just like you would back home.
  • Note any issues with the rental upon arrival, and immediately send them to the owner. We specifically recommend e-mails and text messages, as they usually contain time stamps that are helpful if damages are assessed.
  • Respecting quiet hours and parking regulations can make a stay significantly more pleasurable. You will magnify your chance to make local friends, and resident neighbors are a terrific resource to find the best local attractions.
  • Don't forget to... Ask a local! Residents can typically help you find exactly what you're looking for. Who better to ask where to see a beautiful sunrise or sunset, have a great night out, or the best spots for shopping?
  • Don't leave anything behind! Just before you drive away, walk through the property to make sure you've collected all personal items. Check bathrooms, dressers, and closets for hidden items. Clean the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
  • Go through the rental a final time and keep an eye out for any damage. We suggest walking through with the property manager whenever possible. If the host is not available, remember to take video of the rental to record its condition.
  • After your trip, leave feedback! Hosts rely on great ratings to inspire new bookings. They'll be much obliged for your feedback. Alternatively, if something went awry, other vacationers will appreciate that you share your feedback and help them have the best future vacation. Please be objective.
